The vial is protected like many machinist levels, the metal tube rotates to protect it. Just roll the tube to the bottom

I reversed the grain so that the glue up wouldn’t bow.

I am pleased but This isn’t the first time I’ve used this technique. Last year, I made a sign on a communion table using the same lamination.

Beautiful grain on the sides, you must of got that oak from Moody's stash?
Only oaks growing for a good length of time get grain like that.
