Friday October 27th, 2023-Whats on Your Weekend Agenda?
Ron Dudelston replied to Larry Buskirk's topic in General Woodworking
Rough week, folks. A lifelong friend died Tuesday. My shop is my solace right now as I am prepping for a huge Christmas show. Does keep my mind occupied. -
MWTCA September 2023 'What's It' Project (8-2023)
Ron Dudelston replied to John Morris's topic in MWTCA What's It 2023
I’m guessing some sort of marking gauge. There are two moving parts. The slide with the two pins has a boss on it and the tapered piece also slides. The pinned slide does the clamping and the tapered piece locks it in place? -
John Moody exclusively uses General Finishes Endurovar and swears by it.

MWTCA August 2023 'What's It' Project (192-4)

Kinda looks like a slot punch of some sort but the edges aren’t sharp. This is a tough one. I am intrigued by the label on the edge. Net Weight 2.77 pounds. -
Great to have you with us. BTW, old guys rule!

Maybe not dreamy but civil and sane.

John, the humidity is not an oppressive 3 or 4 month stint here in Indiana. We will have pockets of it for two or three days and a rain will come through and cool it off. Further down south it may be different. We get a little humidity in May and June is nice. July, August and early September are our humidity months. October is gorgeous.

Clearly a reamer of some sort. In all seriousness, it doesn’t look all that old. Maybe the 1930’s or 49’s? I’d guess that it has a kitchen use because it isn’t built strong enough for daily industrial use. -

A Meershmam pipe bowl cleaner?😀 -
I could wave but you can’t see me. Our seats are directly under the turn 3 cameraman. His view is our view.

We have one in our kitchen. I cut it down to 6’ and it catches the overflow at family dinners. Could be a good theater prop.

Arm R Seal is designed to be a wipe on finish. I use bowls from Aldi’s and pour about 3 or 4 ounces in the bowl. I use a clean, new cotton rag folded into a square and apply the finish overlapping just slightly. The first coat will dry in a few hours. Lightly knick the dust nibs off with 220 sandpaper, wipe the dust and apply the next coat. Keep it up until you have the finish you want. Easy Peasy.

I just completed a solid cherry entertainment center for my neighbor. I sanded to 400 and applied 4 coats of General Finishes Armor Seal semi. An absolutely foolproof product.

Good Monday Morning Patriot Woodworkers! May 1, 2023
Ron Dudelston replied to John Morris's topic in General Woodworking
I’m only 4 days late but it’s an election year and I’m running again. My shop time has been consumed by a solid cherry entertainment center for a neighbor. He’s a bachelor and wanted this thing built properly. The two cavities at each end will have tempered smoked glass doors. Door frames are built. Hopefully, I can begin to apply General Finishes Arm Ar Seal this weekend. -
Hello from Florida - Refinishing Table Question
Ron Dudelston replied to davidardenyoung's topic in Introduce Yourself
Welcome Aboard, David. I’m with John. I’m a visual guy so a picture would be helpful. Since the table is a softer wood you will have to be really careful not to raise the grain too much when you wash the stripper away. -

We are in the middle of a downtown building renovation project here. Somehow I managed to volunteer to build a pair of oak handrails for the restaurant that will be going in. Not hard but time consuming because all the angle are weird. -
Welcome to the asylum, Eric!

Plastic Dust Collector Bags
Ron Dudelston replied to Ron Dudelston's topic in Machinery, Tools, Research, Reviews and Safety
Update: I bought a Shop Fox 1 hp collector. It was about the same size as my old Delta and the footprint isn’t huge. Space is at a premium in my shop. I did get lucky. The cloth collection bag from the Delta will fit the Shop Fox. I get a little more dust but it is way easier to put on and remove. -
Dewalt 735 Table Replacement
Ron Dudelston replied to Ron Dudelston's topic in Machinery, Tools, Research, Reviews and Safety
I had it dialed in pretty close anyway, John. The 735 is way more accurate than the Delta. -
A moment of silence for my dearly departed Delta dust collector. Today, after months of emitting an ear piercing squeal for the motor the unit breathed its last. It gave me 15 years of service so no complaints. Today I ordered a new Shop Fox and like most newer collectors this one uses plastic bags to collect the shavings. Here’s my question for you experts. Are the bags a single use or can they be reused? My Delta had a cloth collection bag so I’m in new territory here. I’m hoping I can repurpose the cloth bag off my Delta on this unit.

Dewalt 735 Table Replacement
Ron Dudelston replied to Ron Dudelston's topic in Machinery, Tools, Research, Reviews and Safety
What really surprised me was that I didn’t have to adjust the height stop. I set the height at 1” and ran a piece if cherry though. When it hit the stop the board measured .996”. Close enough.
