I reversed the grain so that the glue up wouldn’t bow.

I am pleased but This isn’t the first time I’ve used this technique. Last year, I made a sign on a communion table using the same lamination.

All of my wood comes from Frank Miller Lumber in Union City, Indiana. A great company to deal with.

Five coats of semi gloss wipe on poly.

I don’t know about the steeped in history part of it but I did not have to made a gavel.

The vial is protected like many machinist levels, the metal tube rotates to protect it. Just roll the tube to the bottom

Keith and I thought it was a drill for drilling peg holes in a barn beam. Newman said we were close but it was for drilling peg holes in a fence. The chain secures it to the beam and there’s an indexing cam at about the three o’clock position on this picture.

I’ll tell you in a day or so

Here is Steve Gore. An Indy news team did this piece.

Keep me in the loop, Dale. Steve is from Batesville which is in southern Indiana, maybe 90 minutes from here.

It must be a different Trenton, Indiana. Trenton used to have only a general store and now it is gone. There is just a crossroads there. I haven't heard anything about it. Dale, if you find out more let me know.

They've been in the shop for a couple of weeks John. They are solid white oak except for the plywood back. The buyer wanted something that she could pass down through the generations.

Ron, I only have one question. How do you find the time to do such beautiful work and still help maintain the website? That is really nice!
Thanks for the kind words. Actually, that is a valid question Tom. I have a desktop in my shop and typically I'm running two pages. Amazon Prime music and TPW. I'll check into the site about every hour or so dependiong on the traffic. You have to remember also that I'm retired and that helps. I also have the TPW App on my phone. Hey, Morris makes us earn that six figure salary. $000,000.00

Actually, I didn't. I was ready to pull the trigger on the templates at Woodcraft and I found a place near here called the Door Store. I bought the doors and removed the panels cheaper than I could buy the templates.

What can I say. I married up.

I remember this job well Ron! What an exciting time in the Dudelston home it was too! I forgot how you secured the island to the floor, bolt the base to the floor, then secure the cabinet to the base?
It is castered John.

That is flat pretty Gerald. Well done, my friend!
-
Thanks so much Lew.

$75 without base, $95 with. Pretty cheap but the economy is down in the Midwest.
