  1. Today we expect two more of Phyl's siblings to show up. That'll make 6 of us. Dave, her brother, and I will head into town to pick up a mini van to haul everyone around to sight see and partake of Tucson's cuisine. There won't be much shop work for the next several days. Although I may sneak out there to do some scrolling as time permits. Have some family requests for a few items. Week after next, Phyl's family will have cleared out and then, my clan of 8 arrives. They'll all be staying in a B&B, though. And, they'll have their own transportation. .
  2. Another gorgeous, sunny day with a high of 77°. Come on out. Lots of open desert for sale.
  3. Thanks lew. That was easy.
  4. Tried to send a PM to @Smallpatch but keep getting a message that tells me my in box is full and I have to empty it to send a private message. I don't know where that is to empty it. Can anyone help?
  5. @John Morris Thanks for the tags. I forgot them. My scroll saw is a Dewalt.
  6. @John Morris Thanks for the tags. I forgot them. My scroll saw is a Dewalt.
  7. Many thanks for all the tips, Jesse. I'll gladly accept any patterns and books/magazines you care to send. I'll PM you my address and, if you would put your return address on your mail to me I'll be be glad to send you some $ for your postage and etc.
  8. 1/4 BB stained wth medium Watco. On a 1/8 BB backer rattle can painted blue.
  9. A pleasant sunny 78° in store for us 🏜 rats, today. Scant chances for rain over the next several days. Recent rains have brought the weeds up in our rock driveways. Time for more Roundup.
  10. Wow!!! Prayers for those affected by the tornadoes. Our AZ weather is a bit less dramatic, thank goodness. A calm and sunny 70° today. Rained most of yesterday. It's been a rather wet February. The normally yellow grasses have greened up. Had to mow Tuesday. The saguaros have sure fattened up, too.
  11. When the big C infested my prostate an oncologist placed gold dots on each spot of cancer found with numerous scans. Then an apparatus called a "Cyberknife" zeroed in on those dots and zapped each one. I was placed on a table flat on my back and the machine, which was articulated, moved to each spot for the zapping. IIRC, it was a five day process. No cutting involved. Ended up totally cancer free.
  12. Forecast for today in the desert is 66° with rain. Won't see 80° again until 3/11.
  13. A cloudy, dreary day. No rain expected, though. It better not. I just spent an hour spraying Round Up on weeds popping up in our rocked drive ways.
  14. I guess it's a matter of different preferences but, I'd go horizontal.
  15. After several tries, we finally got our water heater's lower element replaced with an element that didn't leak. Bought the first one at Ace. Couldn't get it tight enough to not leak. Defective product. Went to HD and bought another one of better quality. The tank was drained 3 times in trying to make the first one work. Had to un install, dope and tape it 3 times. Still leaked. Drained the tank for the 4th time and installed the one from HD and it didn't leak on the first try. I don't often find products, bought from Ace, defective but this one sure was. Wasn't trying to go the cheapest route. Ace was closest. The HD element was $ 0.13 more expensive. All our drive ways are covered with several tons of white rock. All of those drives were treated last month with pre-emergent weed killer but, some of the peskier weeds escaped. Today's job was going to be applying weed killer to those. May need to delay that due to the rain we're getting now. That means I can possibly complete a couple scroll saw projects. That is if the wife hasn't got something planned with her bro and SIL visiting from IL.
  16. Thank goodness Phyl's bro Dave (a plumber) is still visiting. Water heater lower element crapped out. Bought a new element from Ace. Installed it yesterday. It worked but, can't get it to stop leaking around the insertion point. We'll try a different one from HD today. Fingers crossed. It's been great having Dave here. We remodeled the master bath, removed the oak flooring, laid tile, brought in a new granite topped double sink vanity and did a bit of new drywall, installed a new medicine cabinet. And, replaced all the floor trim. Phyl then repainted the walls. It's been a busy few weeks. This old man is about worn out. Not Phyl, though. She's only 8 years younger than me but, at 74, she has twice the stamina.
  17. WOW!! We'll see 86° today. Then dropping back into the to the mid 70s for a few days. Taint too shabby.
  18. A sunny 73° today. Then back in the 80s for the next several days. No rain for a while.
  19. Yesterday's sunny 80° was glorious. But, Scattered clouds and 70° today. No rain predicted until next week.
  20. At 0:530 it's a nice 55° headed for 82° later. We'll be taking Phyl's bro and SIL sight seeing at the Arizona Memorial, and to an anthropology museum and the planetarium on the university campus. Beautiful day for it.
  21. Dan, we're all praying for you. Hope the upcoming tests are what the docs need for a proper diagnosis. In the meantime, take it easy.
  22. Finishing up the master bath remodel. Got to move in and plumb a 72" double sink Vanity. Do some drywall mudding and sanding. A bit of painting. Then the job is complete.
  23. The high today will be 74°. Temps will remain in the 70s and 80s for the next ten days. Even so, unlike rj, my legs will remain intrapped by long pants for a while. The mornings are still a bit nippy.
