  1. Gene Howe; I've had the same problems with the 1/4" dowels that I use. It's a tight fit, that's for sure. I'll cut the dowels a little longer than needed and put them in the microwave to dry the out. That usually works. (15 to 30) seconds. Another thing to try is to keep them in a warm spot in the house to get any moisture out. Harry
  2. THE REINDEER RETIRED, ALONG WITH, A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. AFTER THE CHEMO AND BLADDER SURGERY WE DON'T HAVE THE ENERGY TO DO IT.
  3. The kitchen hot water gets low on pressure and flow once in awhile. Took off the supply hose and there was a big piece of rust blocking the opening. I used a small screw driver to break it apart, flushed it out and now it's fine. Happens every once in awhile but what do you expect from a 100+ year old house.
  4. The Flex-Seal is still holding without a drop and it's been almost 3 months.
  5. It's not used very much so I bought a small can of Flex Seal. Cleaned the crack and coated it with the stuff. It's been 2 weeks now and no moisture leak at all. We'll see how long it lasts.
  6. Steve, Is this going to be "project" #2 for July or did I loose count?
  7. Your done with that, which looks very good, now what about the rest of July?
  8. I had chemo a year ago. 2 times a week and then a week off and then repeat for 3 months. About the time I felt ok it was time to start over again.
  9. The house next door has that type. Outside entrance, dirt floor and when you go down a couple of steps everything is in full view. Ours is a "finished" basement. Main thing I was wondering about was the 4 bolts.
  10. I'm sure in this town full of "old" houses there is someone. I'll check it out.
  11. Toilet in the basement is old, old, same as the house and it's over 110. Tank has a small crack that's leaking water. Going to replace it but it's got 4 hold down bolts into the floor. I don't know if that's because of the size or what. I've never seen a replacement one like it.

  13. May have to get one of those plants. Flies drive us NUTS during the spring and summer!
  14. Some of the ones, that one include, were supplied by the customers. Most were given to me.
  15. I use short pieces like those for bird feeders and houses.
  16. I haven't been able to do too much this year. I started working on these "name" blocks for Christmas presents. They're cut from a 1.5" square block of a 2x4.
  17. I some times have a small flashlight that I hold in my mouth. Or, it's small enough to hold in my hand to help.
  18. I think we all have a "catch all" spot. When I'm looking for something I have to figure out which spot.
  19. Thanks for the ride along Steve. Always enjoy them.
  20. Same thing with latex paint. Not good for a shelf! Set something on it and it will stick!
  21. I know what your going thru with the pins. I had a bone die in my wrist back in '82. They put a silicon one in to replace it. Here about 7 years ago, it wore out and they put a plate in there. Not able to bend it much but I've learned over the years how to get around it. Where there's a will there's a way!
  22. I'm glad somebody has some energy to do things! Like Larry said, I got tired just reading it!!!
