I'm (maybe) trying to stain my deck. Spent quite a bit of time over the last week cleaning it. This is all a first for me, we've never had a wooden deck before we bought this house....at this point I wish we didn't have this one. Weather condition look acceptable for the process though, so I'll start today unless something else shows up.

Last evening, that scant chance became a reality but, scant still applies to the amount. Lots of thunder and lighting with just a sprinkle. All kinds of dire flood warnings for the area, all for nought.
Forecast for today has a 30% chance of scattered "thunder showers" and, 96°.

Yesterday, between coats of poly on the bench, was spent trying to organize smalls. Made a dent in that job but, still a looong way to go. Now that the last coat of poly is dry, the bench will be in service as a staging area for more pallet boards to be trimmed. Sometime in August, they should become a wall! That is barring any more episodes of my ADD, (Attention Deficit Disorder). That will be the final step to the construction phase of the tin can rehab.
    Oh, look, a squirrel.

Time to start returning the tools in the house back to the shop, kitchen is in a holding pattern until cabinets arrive. Shop definitely needs cleaned up as well.

    Friday July 30th 2021?
    What the heck happened?
    Another month already gone.

Going to be a more comfortable day here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" with high temps forecast to be in the low to mid 70's with lower humidity, & dewpoint temps.  About time.

Since it's going to be so nice I'll be making a boneyard run to see if I can get a few parts that got damaged when the timing belt broke on the Pilot.
I need to get another timing belt cover, motor mount bracket, crankshaft belt guide, and belt guide/stop.  Seems like I'm forgetting something.
Can't believe what the dealer wants for those parts.

So, What's on your weekend agenda?

Got a long e/mail from Dave today. He has definitely had serious problems with back surgery and other issues. He plans to contact all who have sent e/mails to himand plans to visit the forums as soon as it is possible for him to do so.He did express his gratitude for being remembered by the PWW members. Sounds like heis still experiencing lots of pain, weakness and fatigue, but said he is recovering. He spoke much about his grandchildren and their achievements in sports and education. Definitely a proud gramdpa. It was really good to hear from him.

That formula Gerald mentioned is what I've always used after I read the Mickley recommendation. With my last batch I did cange the solvent from turpentine to MS, the turpentine smelled for days (literally).

I thought about a light coat petroleum jelly on the can threads but, the plastic bag seems a better idea.

I found that they had change the sign in slightly and I was able to get in Ok. Probably a young mind would have picked up on it right away.........I'm slow, it took some time.
    Thanks for all the suggestions

Watco's tendency to gel and harden, as anyone whose experienced the frustration of removing the lid from a partially used can of it will attest, is the reason for it's use with MDF. Tomorrow, it's 4th coat will have dried sufficiently to allow the first of three coats of spar urethane. I knew enough was applied when the 4th coat wasn't immediately absorbed. This method isn't idiot proof (what one is?) but, this old idiot can live with it.  It's just a work bench, after all. I just need a flat area to stack tools on.
