Have you ever thought about the making your own Windsor chair? I offer a 5 day, one-on-one course in my workshop located in the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec. The one-on-one course includes all materials, the use of all hand tools required to build a Windsor chair as well as a detailed instruction manual on how to make a Windsor chair.

I've just returned from 3 weeks in Sicily and photographed this shell in a castle/chapel in Castelbuono, Sicily. It was a series of shells that were on top of the seats in the chapel of an estate there. The first photo shows the interior of the chapel and the second shows my choice of shells there to carve. I'll try to document the process for this group here.

Forgot about doing this the other day. Did it last winter with mainly scraps I had laying around my shop. Only thing I actually bought for especially for it was the gray paint. 

Everyone here knows my project pictures suck.

Okay so I am no pro when it comes to terminology of types of turnings.  Saw this somewhere and decided to give it a shot.  Not sure what it is called but looks cool.
Glued up two bases using a 1/4 threaded rod and some washers.  Neighbor gave me four large 5 inch washers so I used them to keep the bottom surface clean and flat.
 

When I bought this farm I found an old Shopsmith lathe and got to running.  It had few parts for it around so I have kind of cobbled things together, it is a tad redneck but it works.  I have yet to buy a 5/8 shaft adapter to allow me to use lathe chucks and I have yet to buy a lathe chuck,

Where to start is to determine just what do you want to use the bench for. At the time for me it was flatwork and planing. I looked at many plans and decided on parts of several. Not sure where each part came from but the contributing plans were in Wood Magazine, Shop Notes and Popular Mechanics.

Association of Woodturners of Great Britain

I had mentioned in another post I was building a desk. This isn't anything really challenging but I want to prove I'm doing something. I need 2 of these, one for a basement area I use and another for our main floor "office". I was planning on doing both in an A&C style, but I now think the second one will be more contemporary.
