Woodman 5,427 Posted August 12, 2022 Report Share Thanks, John! I was shaping ebony fingerboards and my 9 1/4" Handyman was too large. And the No. 60 1/2 I did not yet own was both too expensive and not delicate enough for tiny bevel work. This, the smallest LN planes, is too small for production fingerboard shaping, but she worked for me. And stayed sharp for a long time - what a great blade [iron]! For detail work, I can put a crisp .3mm bevel along the edge of a fingerboard or craft item. And believe you me, owners notice small attentions to detail When they have their hand wrapped around your neck 3-5 hours a day, you want to make it pretty and comfortable. Now for an even tinier plane, this one with a rounded sole: Here are a few images from Jayne Henderson's workshop. EJ Henderson makes guitars and ukuleles, a trade learned from her father, Wayne Henderson of Virginia.
