Allen Worsham
Happy Armed Forces Day! Today (and everyday) we honor our men and women in uniform."President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country. On August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days. The single day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense" -U.S. DOD Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.net'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk.' Fred Wilson
Many thoughts go through my head today. Â Wonderment of our parents, grandparents, great grandparents, etc who fought for our freedom in this great country.Awe struck at my generation who fought for the freedom of others.Grateful for the present generation who are standing tall and proud for freedom around the world.Fearful for the next generation who will be fighting for who knows what. One thing we will all know - we fight for the freedoms we enjoy.
