It's another one of those mornings, to say, HEY.

Trying to stay in the "here and now", but it's hard with retirement looming just a short 8 months away! I've heard of "Short Timer" attitude and seen it in my older fellow employees, I've even despised it, their nonchalant attitude, their "I don't give a bleep" mannerisms, and here I am on my way out, and I am starting to exhibit some of that same behavior! And I despise myself!

God willing I make it, I have so many things I want to do, well really just a few. Once we find our forever home in the Southeast, I want to hang out with my wife and go places, I want us to find a church and become completely involved in that community, and I want to hang out in a small backyard workshop and make things. A modest request I think.

I'm kind of in a bit of shock over it all actually, just a few years ago retirement seemed so far off, like a lifetime away, and I remember a few of you guys, especially @Ron Dudelston telling me several years back, that the last few years of your work life go fast, and man it sure did!

Today, I go into my newly appointed office job, in the year round 72 degree atmosphere, thanking God I'm not out in the 118 degree desert anymore, and my mind is transitioning. They still get a hundred percent outta me, but man it's hard outputting that hundred percent these days, I must admit!

Yeah, that 8 months will fly by. Kali will lose another couple of fine citizens when you guys join the exodus. Best of luck in your forever home search.

Thanks Gene, and for all those here who have doubts about this Kali kid moving to a home near you, don't worry, the politics won't follow us, we just want to be left alone and respectful of the community we move to. As long as you don't mind me playing Revelry every morning at O Dark Thirty as I raise ol glory up our 50' flag pole in our front yard! :D

Remembering way back when I retired. Waited, counting the days for it to happen. But, when the day came I was happy but at the same time a bit sorry to be leaving. I enjoyed my work, but most of all, I regretted leaving the friends I worked with. They threw a great party for me at the shop and I will never forget that day. I still maintain contact with some of the "kids" I worked with, some just retiring themselves, and some, unfortunately, I've attended their funerals. I've enjoyed a long retirement, almost 22 years now. For most of it, my woodworking hobby has been great, but as most of us in retirement say, I don't know how I ever had time to work with all that I have to do at home. And @John Morris  keep the politics behind you. I still vote my mind but I have some friends who I know have opposing views. Live and let live.

I fully agree with @Al B on "I don't know how I ever had time to work with all that I have to do at home."

Since retiring I don't know how I ever worked and had as much time in the shop to make the things I made and be online. Now i can't ever catch up and seems I'm always behind.

But I love every minute of being retired and doing what I want to do when I want to do it!
