September 19, 20232 yr Turned out very nice, Lew. Both the platter and the engraving. Were you associated with the Intruder in the Navy?

Have not done any laser work just wondering how much difference wood and finish makes to final effect? I'm new at it, too. I put a "wash coat" of poly on before burning. That seems to help make the image more crisp and reduce the surface ashes. The wood species seems to be the biggest factor especially when doing the "picture" burn. October 9, 20232 yr Author Popular Post Have had some of the globes for these ornaments a while just waiting for finials. Club has been doing ornaments last two open shop meetings and I had to brush up so I could mentor . The blue one is solid Bradford Pear. Spaulted ones pecan. Finials are Indian rosewood, red heart, crepe Myrtle. stands are easy to make and either add value or make for a side sale.

November 21, 20232 yr Love the dye color. Really gives it a natural shading effect one might see on a real tree.
