Popular Post Gerald Posted September 10, 2023 Author Popular Post Report Posted September 10, 2023 (edited) Well is you like walnut I have some poor man's walnut Sweet Gum finished. It does not show in the pictures but tow of these cracked like the spokes of a wheel on the bottom. I filled with epoxy colored with micro powders. One had a crack that looked like ring shake but with a bit of epoxy held well. A little off center Calabash. Note the block has increments marked for size perspective. These are all done as one turn and done and gave some nice warp and movement but also made sanding difficult. Edited September 10, 2023 by Gerald Headhunter, Al B, DuckSoup and 7 others 7 2 1 Quote

Popular Post lew Posted September 18, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted September 18, 2023 Finished a platter. Chinese elm about 9" in diameter with wipe on gloss poly. Sorby spiraling tool around the rim and Easy Wood Tools for the small beads. Still learning how to engrave. This is my first engraved picture and the second try on this platter. Did a couple of tests on another material and they looked a lot better. First try on the elm was way too dark and not enough detail. This one is not much better, more detail, but it is for me. I have a beautiful 2" thick piece of tiger maple but not sure I want to use it for a bowl/platter. Gerald, Cal, Headhunter and 2 others 2 2 1 Quote
