forty_caliber
I few weeks ago I asked if anyone might know what kind of wood this was. We kind of decided it was a myrtle/sycamore of some kind. I cut that log into 4 blanks. I've managed to lose one of them on a shelf somewhere in the shop. I rough-turned one of the three remaining blanks this morning. Any further ideas on the species seeing the grain and coloring? Whatever kind of wood it is, it was a pleasure to turn. Very easy to cut. Had a crisp clean spring woods smell to it. .40 Edited December 3, 2022 by forty_caliber Cal, lew, Headhunter and 1 other

lew
Never had the opportunity to try myrtle but we have lots of sycamore around here and that's sorta what the bark looks like. Cal
Gerald
I think Myrtle is darker:https://www.wood-database.com/oregon-myrtle/ Positively Sycamore. Turns well , no distinctive grain, slightly fuzzy when it drys. I have a dough bowl from it. Cal and lew
