Popular Post Gene Howe Posted August 2, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted August 2, 2022 Looks like we're done with the +100° days for a while. Today's high predicted at an even 100°. Should be the last day for that high for a while. Slight chance of rain but, the humidity is wearable at 63%. HandyDan, HARO50, Grandpadave52 and 2 others 5 Quote
Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 We were 70° to start the day with lots of humidity. mid 80s today and 90+ tomorrow....and the humidity sticks around (pun intended). Watering some garden lants though I saw one forecast that said we should get rain over the next few days. HARO50, HandyDan, Larry Buskirk and 1 other 4 Quote
Larry Buskirk Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 7:45 AM 67° forecast high 85° Humidity 90% Dewpoint 62°. Tomorrow forecast to be mid 90's with high humidity and possible severe Grandpadave52, HARO50, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 1 other 3 1 Quote
HandyDan Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 As usual yesterday's rain was a no show, not one drop. Next chance of rain is Thursday. Sunny low 80s today and headed to the 90s tomorrow. Larry Buskirk, HARO50, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 1 other 3 1 Quote
Grandpadave52 Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 Started at 64°. Air was cool but humidity lessened the effect. Pretty heavy dew on though. Had mostly sunny sky until ~hour ago; complete overcast, 76° now. 92° for high; humidity & dewpoint not far behind. Next chance for rain is Thursday. Next chance for below 80...maybe November. Grandpadave52 Posted August 3, 2022 Report Posted August 3, 2022 Stayed overcast yesterday until about 3:30P so we never made the 90's. It was tolerable. Cleared completely by the time we went for pictures at the church at 7P. At 5P, NWS placed us under a Heat Advisory for today. Current, clear starlit sky, 66°. NWS reissued, Heat Advisory ~3A. High today mid 90's, dewpoint, mid to upper 70's will translate to Heat Index 100°-105°. We're also under a Slight Risk for Severe storms late tonight through early Thursday. To round out the day, we're also under a High Pollen Alert. Thus far, no mention for locusts, frogs, cats & dogs or drowning geese. However, I may remain proactive by protecting myself indoors with a sweet tea over lots of ice. Should have picked up a dozen donuts last night... HandyDan, HARO50 and Larry Buskirk 1 1 1 Quote
Larry Buskirk Posted August 3, 2022 Report Posted August 3, 2022 6:35 AM 75° forecast high 91° Humidity 84% Dewpoint 70°. Scattered showers expected that will probably just make it more sticky. Grandpadave52, HandyDan and HARO50 2 1 Quote
Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted August 3, 2022 Report Posted August 3, 2022 Heat advisory for us as well today....Low 90s with a dewpoint in the mid 70s. Started at 70° and felt muggy early on, should be quite miserable. The good news is the is the last 90° for a while, we drop into the low 80 in a few days, more normal for us this time of the year. Should get some rain as well, it's in the forecast for the next 5-6 days. Grandpadave52, HARO50, HandyDan and 1 other 4 Quote
Larry Buskirk Posted August 3, 2022 Report Posted August 3, 2022 Getting to look pretty dark West/Northwest of us. Radar shows a pretty large band of rain moving East towards us. 83° @ 9:45 AM they lowered the forecast high to 88° Humidity 76% Dewpoint 72°. Here comes the just heard the first rumble. HandyDan Posted August 3, 2022 Report Posted August 3, 2022 Sunny and hot today in the low 90s. Humidity is livable with a dew point in the low 60s. They say maybe rain tomorrow. Who knows? Larry Buskirk, Fred W. Hargis Jr, Grandpadave52 and 1 other 4 Quote
Larry Buskirk Posted August 3, 2022 Report Posted August 3, 2022 One rumble of thunder and about fifteen minutes of light rain. Just enough to get everything wet. Hopefully will stay cloudy. Looks like we might get some more around 2:00 PM. Severe Thunderstorm warnings in the area. HARO50, HandyDan, Grandpadave52 and 1 other 4 Quote
Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted August 4, 2022 Report Posted August 4, 2022 (edited) Really uncomfortable this morning, 74° and a dewpoint in the upper 60s. Yesterday kinda sucked as well. There is a sprinkle moving over the area as I type this, not enough to even get anything wet. Today will be near 90 and with the high humidity we will have a heat index near 100. Nothing outside again today.....probably nothing inside as well. Well (53 minutes later), I lied. Our light sprinkle has turned into a pretty good shower, may even get a few tenths before it passes on. Edited August 4, 2022 by Fred W. Hargis Jr HandyDan, Larry Buskirk, HARO50 and 1 other 4 Quote
Popular Post Gene Howe Posted August 4, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted August 4, 2022 A steady, light drizzle for the last hour. No sign of any let up. Present temp is 78° at 05:20. Might not reach the predicted high of 97°. Humidity is 53%. Fred W. Hargis Jr, HARO50, Larry Buskirk and 2 others 5 Quote
Grandpadave52 Posted August 4, 2022 Report Posted August 4, 2022 Yesterday was extremely uncomfortable with the sun, 92° and high humidity/dewpoint. Around 6P, a quite noisy thunderstorm rolled in. It passed fairly quick, but brought some much needed rain...good kind...from 6P throughout the night we received about 6/10" so it really soaked in. Grass already shows signs of revival. Started today cooler, but a muggy 66°. Mostly overcast, a muggy 69°; 81° for high with scattered thunderstorms throughout the day. Pretty heavy thunderstorm less than 12 miles away in our county seat. May be tolerable enough later on to do a few things in the garage. HandyDan, HARO50, Larry Buskirk and 1 other 4 Quote
Larry Buskirk Posted August 4, 2022 Report Posted August 4, 2022 Never did get that 2:00 PM rain yesterday, slight fog earlier this morning. 10:10 AM 77° forecast high of 82° Humidity 77% Dewpoint 67° thick feeling air. HandyDan, HARO50, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 1 other 4 Quote
HandyDan Posted August 4, 2022 Report Posted August 4, 2022 Got a late start this morning. Had a power outage, not weather related, someone hit a pole. One 120V line was fine but the other somehow didn't go out all together but had severely diminished voltage. Ran and shut the whole house down until it was repaired. Was off about two hours. Supposed to get some decent rain in the afternoon and evening. Not getting my hopes up. Upper 80s and humid all day. Grandpadave52, Larry Buskirk, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 1 other 4 Quote
HARO50 Posted August 4, 2022 Report Posted August 4, 2022 We were promised severe thunderstorms and heavy rain overnight, but they lied to us once again. Only a few light drizzles, maybe 1/8" in total. Fred W. Hargis Jr, HandyDan, Grandpadave52 and 1 other 4 Quote

Popular Post Gene Howe Posted August 4, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted August 4, 2022 We get our weather reports from a NWS site on the komputator. Figger if you can't trust the gummit. Who can you trust. Larry Buskirk, Grandpadave52, HARO50 and 2 others 1 4 Quote
Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted August 5, 2022 Report Posted August 5, 2022 We wound up with a tad over .4" of rain yesterday...much more than I expected, and I'm not complaining.....unless it makes the grass grow enough to need mowing. It also didn't get nearly as hot since it was really cloudy until 5P or so. But it was still miserable with the humidity; same for today except the sun is out and we may get to 90, we are in the summer doldrums. HARO50, Grandpadave52, HandyDan and 1 other 4 Quote
