Popular Post Larry Buskirk
It's Friday, Are you ready for the weekend? Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we're enjoying some cooler/dryer nice for working outside weather. I'm so far behind with everything I think I passed myself somewhere. So, What's on your weekend agenda? FlGatorwood, Cal, steven newman and 5 others 3
Popular Post DuckSoup
Countertops are installed. I made a full size template & scribed the wall for imperfections and the countertop company matched my pattern. Saved me from all that sanding and fitting. Hoping to get the tile guy here within the next 2 weeks. I need to build 4 floating shelves & hook up sink & stove to complete this project. Sure was a quick summer. lew, forty_caliber, FlGatorwood and 6 others
Popular Post Cal
It is cooler here also. Yesterday was quite humid, not sure what it's going to be today. My sister & BIL came in late yesterday afternoon and will spend today with us, no plans have been made They have just spent two days in the car, I doubt they want to get back in and tour around... No other real plans made for the weekend. A couple ball games to watch Saturday during the day, so I will probably just do some light chores in the shop where I can have them on. Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr
Some weeks back I had planned to install a door opener on the large door (8' high) in the shop building. I didn't do it then, but I'm trying to get it done today. I think you can open an 8' door with a 7' opener....we'll see. If you're referring to an opener for an overhead door, that shouldn't be a problem. AFAIK, the springs do most of the lifting anyway, and if they're good, you should be fine. Just replaced a broken spring on my son's door. Fortunately the safety cable did it's job. lew, Cal, Larry Buskirk and 5 others

Popular Post Gene Howe
We'll be trenching for and, installing around 400' of irrigation lines and, the valves and controllers for 5 separate zones. We'll have help from our sons and families. Though, I doubt the 3 Y.O. will be able to handle the trencher. Hopefully, Monday will gift me with some shop time. steven newman, Cal, Gerald and 6 others 8

Popular Post forty_caliber
Coming off a hectic work week. I'm not sure how much I'm going to get done in the shop. I've got some in the house projects with Mrs. Boss tomorrow. I got the "I'm a shop widow" conversation earlier this week. I cleaned up in the shop after work today and sharpened a couple of tools. I need to check the drying rough work to see if any are ready for 2nd turning and I still have plenty of green wood to get rough turned. Starting to get a pretty good stack of rough quarter sawn boards from removing the pith. .40 Gunny, Fred W. Is that Romex (nonmetallic sheathed cable in code book speak) in the pipes? Not sure on the paint thing. The pipe is 1/2 inch EMT so that should be code with the 12/2 wire running through it. Looks good though. Before with 4 lights After with 6 total LED lights. Artie, steven newman, FlGatorwood and 9 others
Popular Post Artie
EMT needs to be supported with-in 3 feet of any box, tee, or fitting, and no more than 10 feet there after, and a lot of inspectors will not allow Romex to be run inside of pipe. Some argument about using two different wiring means not allowed. (Haven’t seen that one myself, in the NEC), BUT one did quote me that running Romex inside of pipe is not allowed because of heat build up. I will skin the outer insulation off, and just run it as individual conductors. Is any of this gonna matter running low amperage LED lighting? NO! In the past you have chastised me for my supposedly clean shop, yours’ is kinda looking like an art gallery. (That’s art as in beauty, not as in me ) It certainly looks like a place one would like to spend a LOT of time in. FlGatorwood, steven newman, Fred W.
