Popular Post HandyDan
Looking good. It is a challenging first project. Long slender pieces tend to whip and chatter. Grabbing the drive end in a chuck and using less pressure on the tail stock end go a long way at resolving these issues. Sometimes a steady rest is also needed. I have gone to making them two piece when I make them. Cal, FlGatorwood, Artie and 3 others

Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr
Having just went through that (novice turner and table legs) it can be quite a challenge, but a lot of fun. I turned 7 practice legs before I did the real ones...and they still didn't come out that close. Popular Post Gerald
Funny thing is I bought my first lathe for table legs and it was almost 10 years before I did legs on a lathe. That looks like a good start lew, Fred W. Hargis Jr, Gunny and 4 others

Steve Krumanaker
Actually a tough first project. I don't know if there is anything harder to do on a lathe than a straight taper. Looking good for your first project. Fred W. Hargis Jr, Cal, Artie and 1 other
