I tried to reboot & found a windows 10 update in progress. Update complete, covid scan, reboot & back to normal.

The core reason why this site was not working a couple days ago, I had forgotten to renew the "Security Certificate" for our domain. It lapsed on me and I had to pay the bill and reconfigure the certificate.

The reason why a website needs that certificate is to prove to your browsers that we are a legitimate website with a legitimate owner with a physical street address behind it all. This is how your browsers know that the website they are visiting is not a ghost site from across the ocean that is trying to steal your information and inject infectious crud onto your machines.

Just one more thing we have to do to keep everyone safe online, because the bad actors of the world ruin it for the rest of us, no rest!

:ChinScratch:...I must have missed trying to log in during that time period, because I didn't experience any problems.

From around 7am pac time to 9am pac time, on the 14th. I was out in the field working my day job, we were on morning break and I accessed our community via cell phone like I normally do during break, got the certificate invalid notification and I had to work miracles from my cell phone through the server to get our cert renewed, it was a mess on my end, a bad start for the morning to pile onto other things happening at my day job, thank God the bridge we are building is in the right place!

By the way guys, the error you experienced here, had nothing to do with MS updates or anything that was going on at your end, that was purely coincidence. The error was completely on our end. :)

Glad that you renewed the certificate.  That is a headache, but MS has been causing me headaches, still causing me headaches trying to block links that it does not approve, wanting to set up something to the clouds and such.  I am about to boot it out of here and install Linux only.  Google Earth no longer works with MS 10.  Had to delete/uninstall it and now have access only to the cloud.  I get notices from Academia and when I try to reach the document, I get messages that I am in the wrong section or aisle.  So, MS is still part of my problem, even after the updates.

And, no matter how many times I log out and back in, I cannot use the emojis.  The one day after the upgrade, I got to use one.  So, MS is playing a deadly game with me.  Just wanted to let you know that MS has deserted me.

Lew, about every day, I get notices of pdf files that are available to read or download from Academia.com.  When I click the link, I get this message that I am not allowed there, or I am in the wrong section or I am in the wrong aisle.  Some of these I wish to read and others I prefer not to read.  They are all theology, but just because MS does not like certain topics or authors should not stop anyone from perusing.

And, Google Earth, that I have counted on for years to find locations, can no longer work on my machine as an app.  I have to go to the website to use it.  It is some better but I like having it as an app.

The other thing every day since the updates, I keep getting this notice to complete my setup.  When I looked at it, they wanted me to use Edge, Bing, Office and a whole bunch of stuff in which I have no interest and will not pay for it.  There are a few things in my life that I don't want to share with anyone else.  All this stuff that is all online is not for me.  I guess I've become an old frump, but that's who I am.  LOL  And, on this site, I can no longer use the emojis.  Just another day in the digit world.  Think I'll go back outside in the cold and beat on some wood.  LOL  Thanks, Lew, for wishing to make things better.

I've got a feeling that its a setting with in the computer and you will wind up paying a fortune for fixing a solvable problem that can be done with out tech.  I would do a hard restart check windows updates run all that first re test it check your web browser settings sometimes the browser will say the website is insecure and wont let you connect but you have to tell your browser to recognize the webpage.  I would try those options in before you spend a ton of money fixing the problem with comp techs.  They can be spendy.

I am running the latest version of Google Chrome and Windows 10 with the latest updates.  All worked fine until last Monday.  Not only this site, but other things.  I play Microsoft Solitaire each day to get my brain cell to exercise.  After the Microsoft updates, each time I reboot, whether soft or hard, I get all the gobblygook about getting all these Microsoft games, connect to their server, using Edge, BlueTooth and a whole bunch of other stuff.  It's like visiting a porno site by mistake and you get all these windows that open before you can close one.  I guess I'll take it to a computer store to see what is going on.

I was just refused to see the TPW post about home design help from a young lady.  The post may have been removed, but rather than say that, it tells me that I am not allowed to view the content.  Maybe, I should humble myself and use a Microsoft browser.  I do not like the way they search, but it may be the better option.  Thanks all for listening to my rant.
