January 11, 20215 yr Popular Post William Young had a site called Woodworking Friends. He was very good at making these bowls and there were others that joined in and worked at different patterns and jigs and processes for making them. A "Ring Master Lathe" was used for cutting the rings. Bill had many videos and pictures but one day decided to just call it quits and deleted everything including the web site and YouTube videos. I was sad to see that, there was a whole lot of good information went down the tubes. Many may recall he posted quite a bit in the old Wood mag. forums too.

Sounds like someone abused his web site or said some really nasty things.

January 11, 20215 yr Okay that bowl is nice but spinning on the lathe it kind of gives me a headache. But the bowl is pretty sweet.

I had forgotten Williams last name but have wondered more than once what had happened. He's who turned me on to Target Coatings EM6000 lacquer. Will always be grateful to him for that.

Wish Bill would have given some warning. Maybe some of them would have come here. What do you use to spray the EM6000?

I'm about half convinced a person could use a squirt gun and it would flow out and not drip or run.
January 12, 20215 yr Popular Post Bill was the one who gave me the right direction to go in spraying lacquer. I really thought he just lost it totally , but that is my opinion only. Tried to get him to let us move the RM posts over here. Said he did not want anyone "profiting " from his posts. I know he was over 80 and so active but it can happen in a hurry. I have a Ringmaster attached to my 1442 and it is fun to do but my turning went in a different direction. Never wanted to try a crazy bowl tho.
