Popular Post Cal 7,840
Good Monday morning John! Looks like we have a new site sponsor with us! I've used a couple of their stains and was happy with them. Unfortunately, I do not have a dealer very close at all. Welcome aboard to General Finishes, as for myself, I would be a private in that army! For the week ahead, calling to get my covid jab; bought some file cabinets at auction last week that I need to pick up; finish up repainting a couple tool boxes; staying out of the cold & wet, or cold & wind; finish up a dresser plan so I can get started on it; may try to haul a timber or two out of the garage and list them for sale... That is the only thing I could thing of with an advertisement piece like that. Monday plans nothing much grab a pizza or two and check to see if the glue has cured enough to start on the big project. Got plenty of gouges to sharpen up and test out see how well they do. I think I'm also going to make myself a jig for the wen bench grinder as well which will be nice to have should be easy enough for me to make. Popular Post kmealy 11,463
For those on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/groups/generalfinishesuniversity Four of us assembled 23 tables this morning in 3 hours at the furniture bank. I, in addition, repaired an 8-drawer IKEA dresser that was falling apart while they were assembling legs, drilling pilot holes in the aprons, rounding over edges and corners, etc. A good day for us. Following, a trip to Rockler for some stain. I got some Old Masters' Pro series Espresso, but on my trial, it's not as black as the sample at the store would have led me to believe. I should have gotten the GF version, but it's water-based and I'll be putting on an oil-based finish. Will be out tomorrow and swing by S-W to see if they have something better fit or can sell me a can of glaze medium that I can mix up some black glaze. My old bottle went bad on me. Popular Post FlGatorwood 9,138
Wife got her first Covid shot today about noon. Had to drive 25 miles to get there with power chair on the back of the Toyota van, covered to protect from rain. Traffic was heavy. It took an hour to negotiate the line, then you sat in the gym and waited your turn. After your shot, you waited either 15 minutes or if you got the red dot, you had to wait 30 minutes after the shot. Then they allowed you to escape. New TV antenna to install. It is motorized to rotate and is labeled as effective up to 200 miles. Going to drop Dish like a hot potato. Still working on an appointment for my shot. Have some seeds to plant this week for spring harvest. Keeping mainly indoors to miss the spitting rain and cold wind. Where is my wall? LOL p_toad, John Morris, Fred W. Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr 10,200
If you pull in stations from 200 miles away, I'd like to know which antennae it is....I could use it. But, also congrats on your wife getting the shot...though I guess you get to do it all over again for the second dose. We aren't eligible until the first of Feb., and I have no idea what to do to get the shot at that point. lew, p_toad, Gunny and 4 others 5
Popular Post FlGatorwood 9,138
Fred, we got on the waiting list the day after the governor made an executive order to innoculate those over age 65. She got an appointment, but not me. Hmmmm! Still trying. Also, will let you know after I get this antenna up and tested. I'm not sure that I want some stations within 200 miles. Popular Post AndrewB 2,588
Not sure where this is going yet but maybe a small flower pot? Not sure. Either way I also tried out those 25 dollar lathe gouges and chisels I bent two of them and ruined a 3rd not by sharpening wrong but just by putting pressure into the cut. Oh well that's why they call them CHEAP. Live and learn. p_toad, Fred W. Hargis Jr, Cal and 4 others 5
Popular Post Gunny 53,025
Customer came in today for a Emissions inspection but tells me DO NOT turn the vehicle off. As this is a requirement I asked him why? He informs me the battery is bad. Meanwhile his wife is stewing telling him just get a battery. Me I don’t care if it fails or passes. But I will follow every instruction on every screen, and one of them tells me turn vehicle off. Test began and I followed that. When the vehicle would not start I got the jump box and started it up. And as expected it failed because the battery is bad and resets the monitors each time. Guy then tells me all about how this and that rules say he can tell me how to run the test yada yada, yada. His wife is now blowing smoke out her ears. Nope, he is not done. Demands I explain in detail why I failed his vehicle. Gave him my best deadpan look and said, “I don’t have the time or the crayons to explain it to you.” Wife spewed coffee across windshield and is now dying laughing as he stands there dumbfounded. Then proceeds to cuss me out. I gave him his due and responded in….. Ukrainian. As we are G rated let us say it was “colorful.” Frustrated he gets in his vehicle and tells me this is America, learn American. Yeah, okay maybe the crayons were not going to help after all. lew, FlGatorwood, HandyDan and 11 others

Sounds like you get to navigate the shot maze three more times 8 hours ago, Gerald said: We had a little snow last night and all gone by 3 PM Please keep it over there Gerald!
