Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr
Well, I still can't get to the hardwood store (the Covid thing) for a project I've been wanting to do...so I'm still putzing with boxes. I'm making a few more tissue box covers because it's kind of fun. I may look around for a jewelry box plan to build. Popular Post PeteM
I hope to complete the restoration of a 50/60's Craftsman lathe (model 113). Been scouring sources and parts for a month, now just waiting for the first coat of paint to dry on the (plywood) base. The lathe belonged to my father in law (thanks, Bill!!) and remains the technical property of my son, but I get to renovate. I never got to build or work on cars back in high school (early 60's, about the same vintage as the lathe), so I get this feeling of "do-over" on my youth! I finally get to change a bearing. First project will be a set of table legs for granddaughter's new desk. HARO50, FlGatorwood, Larry Buskirk and 4 others

Popular Post kmealy
Got a picture frame finished today, the glass cleaned, foamcore cut, artwork in mat, and it all put together. Will be a gift from my daughter to her hubby. Started the top to the piano electric keyboard stand, have a lip all around to keep it from sliding off. Got a coat of shellac on the Lone Star. Tomorrow, driving halfway across the state to get 2 trucks and a caravan of minivans and pickups of theater props, costumes. and set pieces for the theater group I work at. Load it up, haul it back and unload. Last weekend we cleared out the space for it all. Sunday wife takes off across the state to babysit grandkids as babysitter is in quarantine as her son that lives with her tested positive. Will probably be there up until Xmas break, so I'll be batching it for a couple of weeks. p_toad, Gunny, Fred W. Guy lives about 10 miles from me, has three copies of the same lathe. All I wanted was the spindle and adjusting wheel, but he sold me the entire assembly for what just the spindle would cost on Ebay. However, that red-painted version is the original, with new parts. The new TS casting won't slide down the tube base; just a slight negative fit. Probably just needs aggressive cleaning of the surfaces, but the original has...panache! p_toad, HARO50, FlGatorwood and 4 others
