Popular Post Gene Howe
Yay!!! Got the wall insulation hung. only took us 12 hours over two days. Tomorrow's task is to start with the lower part of the ceiling. That's 10' and, slopes up to a peak of about 12'... give or take. Thinking of leaving most of the ceiling for our sons. Popular Post DuckSoup
I was ordering insulation earlier this week, need 14 rolls at a cost of 286.72. If I order twenty I'll get 30% off at a cost of 286.80. So for .08 I get 6 rolls. I'll find a place for the other 6. After a couple of days I realize I should have ordered 20 rolls 3 times and then returned 42. Gunny, Artie, HandyDan and 5 others 1 7 Quote Link to comment

I have a relative or two who have gone through what you have, and while it seemed very challenging at first, their recovery was exciting and wonderful. And we all look back at how dark it all seemed at the time of stroke, and how far they have come, it's incredible and our story is not rare. The body has incredible memory on how it's supposed to be, and our body wants to get back to normal as much as possible more than our own brain even realizes, hang in there sir Pat, while the tunnel may seem long right now, you'll be looking back at it all and wonder how the heck you came through, and you will come through! Popular Post Gene Howe
Earlier this month, during the 115° days, our heat pump went belly up. The home warranty we purchased last October came through, though and, it was replaced. Unfortunately, the installer failed to recognize the differences in the mounting system and the new unit sits 2" higher off the mounts. Consequently, conditioned air was billowing out the front and back. It took two weeks to get him back out but, he and his helper spent four hours rectifying the oversight. Now, for the last 3 days we are finally getting all the cool air into the house that we're paying for. Our son had a portable A/C unit that he no longer needed so, he gave it to us. It kept our family room nice and cool until the heat pump was fully operational. Now, it's in use in the shop. Although the cubic foot of space in the shop is quite a bit more than the family room, with a couple large fans, it's a good deal cooler than without the portable unit. JimM, Artie, Fred W. Popular Post DuckSoup
Son-in-law was able to dial in his car yesterday and landed top qualifier in Virginia, 192 mph 3.9 et. This was the second time out with this new motor package. He won his first round pass but caught a red light in the second round. The car is in the trailer & heading home. Fred W. Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr
As much as I bad mouth Mother Nature I thought I'd give her a pat on the back. I had posted about putting up peaches from this year's bumper crop this weekend. Here's another blessing she bestowed on us. Cantaloupes! Last year I don't think we got more than 4 or 5 all year. This week they started ripening and we've already picked 7 (grandson took 4 of those!), then just a few minutes ago I got these 8. These are Ambrosia variety, and while they are always really good...this year they seem to be even better. Maybe it's a covid thing. I plant 2 hills with 2 vines in each every year, and this year we seem to have more than we've ever had. Edited August 15, 2021 by Fred W.
