Gasoline Prices

Recommended Posts

Locally it got down to $101.9 for about a week. then it shot up about 40¢/gal., and a few days later another 40¢. It's since backed off a little to about $1.75. Something else that happened was we had a Casey's General store open nearby a couple of years ago, and they sold gas ;labeled "no alcohol". It was expensive, but really helped with my lawn equipment...especially the 2 cycle engine stuff. But now Casey's has stopped selling it, all they have is the ethanol stuff. cursing.gif

I got gas for the lawn mower yesterday for $1.55.  Do not know how low it actually got, never went anywhere to go by a station.  If I find out that it got down close to a buck I will be disappointed I didn't get out to take advantage of it!

The only place we can get leaded gasoline is at our tiny airport. 100 octane. Last November, we stopped for gas somewhere in Texas....maybe Oklahoma...they had the normal choices and one pump labled REAL GAS.

I've been told that the ethanol free gas (but still unleaded?) is better for small equipment like mowers, chain saws, etc., maybe because of the sporadic use.  I've seen it available in NY at a few locations with premium prices.

I don't know about the availability of leaded gas, but I think there is a lead additive for use in older cars.  Something about the valves or valve seats??

We've gone to battery operated tools like weed eaters and hedge trimmers.

Same here, I keep my yard up enough that I don't have to whack the forest down to get it in shape.  Ryobi has these hedge trimmers that the handle rotates 900 left or right.  Great for my wrist.
