or the tow bar on the front of an airplane during night ops on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier

@Lew, those tow bars for A-7 and F-8's were shin high.  They hurt worse.  Oh, if you could just think of some dirty words, you could feel better quicker.  :P

@Lew, which ship and what year?  I was an AK in VA-147 on the USS Ranger and USS America.  Ranger from December 1968 (highlined from USS Neches to Ranger) to June 1969 and America all of 1970.

USS Constellation (CVA-64) with VA-65, 1966. I was an AQ-F3. Worked on the radars and computers of the A-6 Intruder.

Oh, you worked under the dome where everything was tight.  I remember seeing them.  We had VA-165 onboard USS America in 1970 when we cross the equator 4 times, circled the globe and encountered a couple or Russian Bearcats as we were flexing our muscles in the China Sea after the seizure of the USS Pueblo.  Talk about cold.  Thanks for your service and welcome home, Lew.
