Popular Post Cal
Last week I had a patio cover installed over the rear deck. Had I done that 30 years ago my remodel last year would have been a whole lot simpler - and cheaper! So I worked on new steps. This week I plan to install the handrail and temporary railing around the deck. Then install a new gas tank in the Plymouth, and start to rebuild the handrail at the front porch. And stay healthy, I hope and plan to stay healthy... And looking at the picture reminds me that I have a couple lights to wire up and a fan to hang also! Larry Buskirk
..Monday,.. ...That means we made it through the weekend! ...Still waiting for the weather to decide if it's going to let us do anything outside all weekend... ….We might make it to 50° "IF" the SUN comes out from hiding . Still having 25-30 MPH winds with higher gusts. Gunny, Cal, HARO50 and 2 others 2
Popular Post Gene Howe
Rapidly depleting the supply of packing boxes and tubs. And, not one drawer has been emptied, yet. If the current Corona conditions continue, we'll likely not be completing the sale of our place, anytime soon, if ever. In which case, all this packing and storing will have been in vain. We're psychologically prepared for that eventuality. Physically....that's another story. On the bright side... we've somewhat depleted our accumulation of stuff we haven't used or needed in 20 some odd years. Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr
When we moved the biggest box of stuff i had was a 10 yard metal container parked out in the drive. Seriously, we ad unopened boxes in the attic from when we moved to this area in 1988. Anyway, I've sorta scrounged up enough plywood to make a couple of cabinets to put under my assembly....might even have enough material for the drawers. Won't be pretty, the ply I'm using needs quite a bit of rehab...but it'll work. Gunny, FlGatorwood, Cal and 3 others

Popular Post Charles Nicholls
Good evening John & everybody! I hope everyone is doing well. I am continuing on with the necklace build, there is now a total of four of them. I tried to put a finish on one of them, and wound up having a drip. So, I went ahead and re-sanded that and hopefully will be able to try again in a couple of days when it quits raining!!!!!!!!!! In addition to the necklaces, I’ve been trying to get a couple of bottle stopper heads completed here is a couple of wood pieces for necklaces Top is Mun Ebony ( I think I have that right) and bottom is mesquite. I believe this is a piece of Apple wood, I actually dropped it when trying to show it to someone, so now IT is on the lathe waiting for me to get rid of my anger so that I can work on it with a clear head. Does anybody know how to underline a word or a sentence in this forum? I tried a couple of different ways about a year or so ago and if I remember right, it never did work out. Not of major importance but there’s times where an underline would be nice. Please stay safe and lets see what everyone else is doing.😊 HARO50, Larry Buskirk, Gunny and 4 others
Popular Post kmealy
Wrapped up construction on a new TV stand that I've been picking away at for a week or so. Red oak ply and solid red oak face frame and trim. Right side will be a drawer for remotes, left side a matching door front that hides the power bar and all the wires. Spot for the radio underneath and other devices like a DVD player, should we ever need to get it out. Other than the plywood that I bought about 2 months ago, all the other wood came from my "stay at home" wood storage rack. I tried a wild idea to make a jig that uses a router with a top bearing flush cut bit. Worked fine, though a bit slower than the usual method. I wanted something I did not have to set up every time I wanted to do box joints. Did some shop cleanup from the prior and current projects. Also picking away at doing some repair work on drapes from a daughter's friend. Other than that pretty much "shelter in place." Popular Post Al B
Put the final finish coat on the jewelry box. That didn't take long, Chomping at the bit, looking for something to do, so I built a finch bird house. Couldn't finish that because I don't have a hinge to attach the roof. Will take photos tomorrow. FlGatorwood, Gunny, Larry Buskirk and 2 others
FlGatorwood
Took a 20 inch long chunk of Bradford pear, de-barked it, resawed in to 2.25" squares and tossed the center (pith). Also grandson wanted to plant a garden, so he and I dug up a section of the yard, cleaned it up and planted some carrots, radishes, tomatoes, canteloupes, and some herbs. Got on line today to order some groceries from Walmart and some things from Lowe's so I can pick it up in the pick up parking area without going into store. My experience doing this at Target was not a good one. I need to learn more how this works. And, I don't like anyone picking out my groceries for me, even if it is cans and packages. I am far more particular. Oh, well, this situation is teaching an old dog new tricks. HARO50, Larry Buskirk, p_toad and 2 others 3

Teaching all of us new tricks Steve. 12 hours ago, Charles Nicholls said: Does anybody know how to underline a word or a sentence in this forum? Charles, on a reply the box we type in has a header across the top: After you have typed your word or sentence, use your cursor to highlight what you want to underline. With my mouse (Mac) I position the cursor and then mash it in the down position, not sure if that is a left or right mash on a Windows. Anyhow, move the cursor to highlight what you want. Then unmash, move the cursor up to the Underlined U in the box at the top (third from the left). Mash the U and you are done. Easier to do it than explain it! Popular Post Bundoman
Living in “Long Mondaysville” with the current events in the world. Working longer hours with less days per week. Having Monday to Wednesday free, I dug out a new project. It’s been a long time (16 years) since I have done any carving. I dabbled a bit at Christmas but gave up. Here is my fun attempt for the week....a bookworm! Needless to say, a bit rusty and rough out of the gate! Also getting some legs under 2020 4H prep work with the girls. Cedar reclamation for a project underway! The worm hopefully gets some color today. A few pics of progress... On a separate note, stay safe and healthy out there! Things are a bit changed up for most everyone right now but with a little faith and patience, this too shall pass! I find some positives currently in life as things have slowed down a bit. Having all of my kids for dinner each night has been pleasant to say the least. I know it will not last! My college Senior has some understandable job searching concerns the current COVID thing but it’s small in the big scheme of things! Prayers for those that are unable to work at all right now. Tougher out there for some...Have a great albeit somewhat changed week all! Gerald
I was so busy yesterday I did not make it here for everything . Got more done on putting the drawers in . Today got the CMS back in and finished up the last set of drawers. Now have to construct cases for the two file drawers i acquired in my recent find. Then build two drawers.
