Popular Post Fred Wilson
I know - I haven't been around for a while but I haven't stopped scrolling. It seems life gets in the way of computing. Anyhow, the reason for this thread is to show off my latest "big" clock. It's called Birds of Paradise. It stands about 19" wide and 27" tall. Some 2,014 inside cuts (here is where the "yikes" comes into play) Didn't keep track of time - was afraid to. Now all I have to do is figure out how to package it in order to take it to our shows Oops, forgot - - - - - - still have to upload the pix OK, 'nuff braggin Edited September 4, 2019 by Fred Wilson spelling Harry Brink, Gunny, Cal and 8 others

FlGatorwood
Fred, that looks similar to some of the things I saw in Japan, Hong Kong, Philippines and other points in Asia. The time, patience and skill to make those look that beautiful astonishing to me. Thank you for sharing. Now, I need a towel to wip up all the drool. Popular Post Fred Wilson
Thanks, guys for the roses. It's much appreciated. About 3 dozen 2/0 blades were used and about a dozen and a half of #1 spirals for the veigning. Uploaded pix shows the veigning on the bottom front piece. Thanks for the roses. 22 hours ago, DuckSoup said: Fred, that is flat out awesome! Great work When you use the spiral blade do you push or pull the work into the blade? Bob, it is my humble opinion that the scroll saw is meant to have the object material pushed through, therefore, (as much as possible) I push the object material even with a spiral blade. AND, the fact that my eye-hand-brain coordination seems to work better that way. thanks again y'all for the replies FlGatorwood, Harry Brink, Larry Buskirk and 3 others

I've tried spiral blades a few times with little luck. I think I need to try them on some hardwood to really get the feel for them. I had a project awhile back with a starburst and I put a 5 degree bevel on the points. My table only tilts right so I cut all the points on one side pushing & then faced the blade to the back of the saw and cut the rest pulling. Just making straight cuts I remember having a hard time holding down the work and pulling the piece into the blade.
