I used to Scuba dive in a quarry near Lebanon, PA. The geese found it to be a winter haven. The bottom of the quarry was inches deep in goose poop and in the summer the "fertilizer" created thick algae in the water.

Good to hear he's not blaming US for sending our "Canadian" geese south! :rolleyes:And, to put the shoe on the other foot, do you Americans realize that your American turkeys are now becoming a nuisance in Ontario? In the early 70's, small groups of them were re-introduced up here (Where they had become extirpated!) and now hardly a day goes by that I don't see several flocks of them. And they have been known to attack farmers and hikers.

Hey, that's not nuisance, that's freedom ringing Haro! And dinner.

Are they entering Canada by caravan or one by one?

In the mid-70's, several groups of hunters got together to ask the Ontario government for permission to import wild-caught turkeys from several states, including Kentucky, for release in Southern Ontario. IIRC, most were in groups of two dozen or so. They have done so well that now they are being seen in Algonquin Park, some 3 hour's drive north.

They do fly you know.

Oh, they DO!! Not too gracefully, and apparently not too long, but they are an amazing sight when they take to the air!

Back to the Canada geese, did you know that they are now found all over Europe, as well as New Zealand? Don't know if they flew on their own or hitched a ride, but they got there!
