Hopefully the final question of my esteemed friends on this site for this project. Still plugging along on the movable butcher block kitchen island for my daughter. Top is finished except for the oiling. And...I started wondering about wood movement. The top is edge grain maple and each strip is 1-1/4" by 1-1/4". As it is on edge, do I need to be overly concerned about expansion of the wood?

Thanks for any input you may have!

Gary

Ooops,  I just found out that wood movement is a myth.   Here I've misunderstood Chinese furniture that cracks. raised panels that are unfinished around the edges, and breadboard ends that don't line up.

Where do these idiots come from?
