Delta No. 318 8in. Circular Saw "Tilty" & 4" joiner combo - Circa 1930

Recommended Posts

This Delta No. 318 8in. Circular Saw "Tilty" & 4" joiner combo is another gem from grandpa. I've not run across modern day photo's of this but I've only recently began to look. I found the catalog where this appears.

Delta Quality Tools Catalogue G - Oct. 1 1930  - thanks to vintagemachinery.org/pubs/detail.aspx?id=3205

The 4" Craftsman joiner almost looks like the Delta. Maybe a Craftsman guard was used to replace the original? More research is needed here.

This is another well kept item and runs pretty well although it could use a little more torque so the deeper cuts don't stall. I'm sure I'll wish I had as much power when I'm as old as it is.

Wow Glenn...another pristine piece of history. I'm pretty sure @Larry Buskirk and @John Moody both have "tiltys" like or very similar to yours. I think John also has the joiner attachment on the original stand.

Both should be able to assist with your questions and or provide suggestions. I've seen a couple listed on CL over the past few years in the Indy area, but nothing near as nice as yours. Appears the only upgrade has been the link belt, blade and maybe the motor? I can't say I've ever seen one with the motor cover though.

Glad you're here and posting these treasures. "Spices up" the place.^_^ Looking forward to see where you go with this one.

Glenn,

Very nice first edition stand alone "Tilty" 8" table saw.

The jointer looks to be Delta as well. Could you provide a front view photo? (from the stand side)

I've got the 1160 10" "Tilty" along with the 654 6" jointer.
