Well I finally put in an entry for a Darwin Award

Drilling a 4" circle in a hunk of ply  it hit a hard spot and yanked it outta my hand.  WhiZZZ  BANG  into my right side of the solar plexus.  Knocked the daylights outta  me.  I got the    machine shut down and then  shock set in.  I was a little dazed for a bit.  Got a really nice bloody welt for my runner up prize.    Full  One Horse Motor too.   To drill the rest of the holes ( there are lots of 'em) I set up a capture for the boards.

Don't gotta tell me twice.

It's an error that  - - - well - - - wouldn't have happened  on my old DP because the column would have stopped it  And there's my thing.  I have an obsolete habit that was fine under the older conditions.  But this DP is a big Radial and the rules are all different.  Gotta learn the new rules.

Glad you are OK for my DP I have a variety of clamps and never never turn on the DP without the clamps in place.

A 4" hole saw generates a lot of torque and you should run it at a lower speed also.

Cliff,

The time  for the brewski comes after, not before.

Don't ask me  how  I know  this.  BTDT.

And for the diabetics among us..... always check your blood sugars before using power (or sharp) tools! Low blood glucose is the same as being intox-HIC-cated!!

You're getting there, but no need to worry just yet. Around 72 you may start to feel a little woozy. There is also a lot of variation between individuals. I'm used to being on the low side, so I don't usually notice anything wrong until I get down to around 55. If your BC tends to be on the high side, you may react around 80 or so. Do you ever see a specialist for your condition?

Yes my doctor keeps me up to date. My blood sugar used to run around 200. I give up all the good things in life like ice cream, donuts, m & m peanuts 3 lb. bag. Now I stay around 110.

if it is what would I do?

Sorry,Preston, I forgot about that part of your question. Any time you have a low (reaction), take a teaspoon of table sugar or a hard candy, wait about 20 minutes, and check your blood again. If it will be awhile before your next meal, have a slice of bread or the equivalent (half a donut?) as the glucose in that should hold you for an hour or two. Some folks will take a teaspoon of honey, but apparently the sugar in honey is not absorbed into your system as quickly as table sugar. This also holds true for many soft candies, (toffee?) as they contain fats, which bind to the sugars and release them more slowly.

John

P.s. 110 is just about PERFECT! Right in the middle of the acceptable range.
