Popular Post Gene Howe
I finally put my 6" Craftsman jointer on Craigs List for free...zip...nada and, got a call within 2 hours. I'm ecstatic to get that unused, redundant, space wasting hunk of iron out of my way. "Customer" was very happy, too. Especially, when I gave him a money back satisfaction guarantee. Fred W. Popular Post p_toad
Sounds like an auctioneer we used to go to...tail light warranty; when they see your tail lights going out the drive; the warranty is up. Ron Altier
my 6" Craftsman jointer I had one also, for many years and I had the same opinion as you. I even overhauled it, still didn't like it. Cal, FlGatorwood and Gene Howe
Gene Howe
The only good thing about it is that it caused me to explore alternatives. Which, in turn, led to serious research on saw blade technology and router bit design as well as contrarian uses of the planer and sleds. And more use of the planer led to the Shelix head upgrade. I'm more than satisfied with the trade offs. Cal, Grandpadave52, FlGatorwood and 1 other 3

Popular Post Larry Schweitzer
Those things were a terrible design. You charged him too much for it! A sneaky way of getting it hauled away for free. Dadio, Grandpadave52, FlGatorwood and 3 others
Dadio
He is probably laughing all the way home, thinking about who he doesn't like he can give it to. Herb HARO50, Gene Howe, Grandpadave52 and 1 other 1
hawkeye10
Gene, I had one of those jointers. I bought it new and neither table was machined anywhere near flat. I tool it back. FlGatorwood and Cal 1
Gene Howe
I fought it for years. Finally decided there had to be better ways. Found a DECENT rip blade and, bought the Dewalt planer. Never looked back. That jointer had been taking up space for way too long. hawkeye10
I have a rip blade (Freud) but I hardly use it. I have a Freud Fusion combo blade that really puts a nice edge on lumber. I sent it to be sharpened about a month ago and I swear it seems to be sharper now than when it was new. Maybe I am crazy. Gene Howe
My blades always seem to be better than new when they come home from the sharpener. Probably because I got used to using them dull. Which reminds me, I need to change my rip blade and add it to the stack to be sent out. Thanks, Don. Popular Post Smallpatch
I also had one of Sears 6 1/8" joiners as mine was called. Bought it the week I got out of the army from the car salesman at chevy who sold me the 59 hardtop...... But being fair to Sears I never knew how to set it up and the blade never got sharpened during the 30 years I owned it... But now I have owned an 8" Grizzly for almost 18 years and I won't edge glue any board together without first running them through the joiner. And I never take anyone else's advise on wood subjects... HARO50, Grandpadave52, Cal and 4 others 1 1

Kevin Beitz
Bought mine in 1972. Still going strong today. I never had issues with mine. FlGatorwood
Gene Howe
You got lucky. I'll bet the ones built back then (by Simpson?) were better machines. Ah well, don't need one now. If I needed speed, maybe. These days, my speed is at the rate grass grows. FlGatorwood and Gunny
Smallpatch
Kleamy, I don't think back then anyone ever thought in the terms of, mine is better than yours, type of bragging. If I needed something in my shop I went and bought it if I could ever raise that much extra money. A tool was a tool and if it worked for that person he could probably cover up the name brand with a piece of tape and it never entered my mind. I think that was the worse part of Wood on Line for someone was always bragging and putting down others for what they bought and used.....
