Isn't that what they were charging for the latest, greatest, gotta-have-it version? May have been $1200

Ya' got me? I don't pay attention to those carnival barkers. Not when I know I can buy a version that'll do all the same basic and some of the advanced functions for <1/10 of the price.

And don't forget, $1200 US = $1500 Canadian!

Oh yeah, I did forgot...like I've said before, "I don't get out much and when I do it's not to far across the county line.

Seems like everyone who has a smart phone doesn't have time to speak to you unless you're on the other end with a smart phone. Way too much convenience at the expense of getting a little exercise  and being a bit more sociable. Never had one, and don't want one.

I'm in, too! I still have rotary dial phone in my shop. The GKs marvel at its use.

once you use some of these apps that let you reach out past your phone to accomplish things in the rest of the world  you find  out how much you actually enjoy it.

Of course most of the things you listed are things that historically required enormous investment in infrastructure.  New locks new switches net thermostats.

But fear not.  Sooner  rather than later these will all be standard issue in the new products  because consumer demand is there.

I want  my phone to be able to connect with my computer when I'm away and see all the security events that my security system detects.  I'd like to be able to see who is in my home and whether they are armed so when I call the cops  I can tell 'em  no residents are in the home and all the robbers are armed - - even give the cops access to my cameras.   - - That sort of thing.  I'd like to know if I have a flood. I'd like to know if there is a package. I could call some one to grab it off the porch for me.

Who We Are

Operation Ward 57 Challenge Coin Display Project

We are a woodworking community with an emphasis on sharing and learning the skilled craft of woodworking and all of its related disciplines. Our community is open to everyone who wishes to join us. We support our American veterans and active duty, being a veteran is not a prerequisite to join. Join us now!

Objective

Air Force Command Center Plaque

Of course just like most online woodworking communities we are centralized in the arts, crafts, and trades that are woodworking. But, we have another focus in our Patriot Woodworker community, we are the only woodworking community that was founded on our care and concern for our disabled veterans.

Volunteer

Patriot Woodworker Volunteers

The Patriot Woodworkers are an all volunteer community, from the staff and hosts who run our online woodworking community to the members who frequent our forums, you'll find volunteers in all of us. We are not on a payroll, unless you consider the spiritual rewards gained from volunteering, as compensation.

Education

Logging

One of the many projects we are working on is a wiki for our online community. A wiki is a great way for woodworkers and enthusiasts to share their knowledge to others, and to impart their knowledge for others to learn from, and utilize as well for their own benefit. We hope you'll consider being a wiki contributor.
