Popular Post Gene Howe
Having designed and built a ton of casework, I'm in total awe of Glenn's work. His creations are amazing. Helped, in no small measure, by his artful choices of beautifully figured wood and excellent joinery. Looking forward to more eye candy from Glenn. After a few fun filled days celebrating our grandson's birthday in Tucson, it's time to get back to the river table legs. Will be delivering it 3/10. Then, start on my brother's 2nd rifle case. This one of olive wood. Scheduled delivery in August. John Moody, HARO50, p_toad and 2 others
Popular Post John Moody
I worked with my son this weekend to build a toybox. First time for him to do panel glue ups. He did all the work, I was just there to advise. I had six floating shelves to get ready. The large ones are 10” deep 47 1/2” long and 2” thick. Small ones are 7 7/8” x 24 x 1 3/4”. They ordered these brackets that the shelves will slide onto the rods you see sticking up. Right now the brackets are sitting in the backwards. Just checking depth to make sure the flat part will fit in there flat and tight. Again these will be floating shelves and made to look somewhat rustic. This afternoon I’ll drill the holes for the rods to fit into the shelves. Then the bracket can be mounted to the wall and the shelf slide onto the rod. Popular Post Chips N Dust
John Moody, The toybox looks really great. KUDOS to your son. I also like the looks of those shelves! As for me, spent the weekend finishing up getting the DC up and running. I have those blast gates that when you open them, the DC starts up. I had to get that all wired up, pretty easy, just takes time. Replaced the left turn signal on my pickup, and worked on the storage cabinet for under the table saw extension. Case is built, ready for drawers. HARO50, Gene Howe, p_toad and 3 others

Grandpadave52
Today is daughter's 39th birthday...seems odd because I only recently turned 39 myself I planing on cake & ice cream for tonight...hope everyone else here has similar plans and someone gets the cake & ice cream. A year ago Tuesday marks one year since Mom passed. A bitter sweet end of sorts to the month of February. Rest of week TBD depending on the weather...A whole lot of sticks to pick up...re-start diagnostic journey on truck Voltmeter issue; even more clean-up, put-up and organize in the garage than sticks on 4 acres to pick-up I'm ashamed to admit. @John Moody...how awesome it is that your son is following your lead; first by rescuing orphan tools, then putting them to use. Great job on the toy box...now you've got to get him signed on here. BTW, pretty nice job you did on the floating shelves too. What's your plan for finish? 7 hours ago, John Morris said: One of our newest members @OC3 joined us and hit the road running by creating his first gallery of his work, and my my what beautiful work it is! He just raised the bar a notch or two! Edited February 26, 2018 by Grandpadave52 Dane Franco and Cal

Popular Post Ron Dudelston
It'll be a busy week. Today I stained a cherry bookcase that will get finish coats. It may be up for sale unless my wife can find a place for it. I have an election board meeting, a jury trial (maybe), a trip for Lumber and my grand daughter's play this week. Gene Howe
@Ron Dudelston, how did you end up with an extra bookcase?
Ron Dudelston
Just now, Gene Howe said: @Ron Dudelston, how did you end up with an extra bookcase? Good question Gene. A couple of months ago I built a pair of 4' X 4' bookcases for a local decorator. I used cabinet grade 3/4" plywood and trimmed it our with native cherry. When I was picking up the plywood, there was a shop grade piece that I bought at a killer price because it had a bad edge. Knowing my ability to mess something up, I bought the extra piece as insurance and I didn't have to use it. Therefore, I had a sheet of plywood in my way (You've seen my shop). Viola', a 32" bookcase was born. I did change the build just a bit. I put a solid cherry top on it. Cal and HARO50
