Sharpening question

If you use CBN wheels the thoughts now are that it does not make a =difference. A light touch is best when sharpening as unlike reshaping you are only removing a small amount of metal . Cooling with water I will have to disagree with Lew on this as with HSS which most modern steels for turning are that or better and cooling is not needed , even if the steel turns blue the temper is not affected.

I cool any steel while reshaping because sometimes it gets too hot to hold.  For touching up a dull edge I see no need to cool it.  I can get it hotter using it.
