Door came out of the clamps.....tried adding the corner brackets....even with pilot holes, I was snapping every other screw off.   Finally got that done...went to fit the door into the opening...was too wide..grrrrr, bandsaw to rip the excess off.....door was too short...ripped another piece to act as a filler across the top edge.....Hinges?    More screws snapped off....drill bit in the Vix bit snapped off as well ( had to dig that out of the hole...grrr)  Cussing level was about ..12, on a scale of 1-10....This thing was getting installed, one way or another....:angry:

Added a spring catch to keep the dang thing closed:angry: had to drill two scraps of Walnut, to get enough of these plugs..

Basic tool kit for installing plugs...screwdriver to "pop" each one out, coat of glue on the smaller end, and hammer them home..

Still need 6 installed in the top of the bookcase, but...

That is a LONG way up there....Need to install a spring catch for the bottom door..someday.    Won't be today.....shop is closed.

Need to go out shopping today..plywood for the back of the book case, a can of shellac...and one more knob, to match the others....

Then sand the "H" out of this thing....before the finish is even started...wasn't a "good day"  all around.

Mom was taken to the Hospital Sunday...she fell and broke an arm...will be taking her to the rehab center, today....yep, Sunday wasn't a very good day

Maybe Tuesday will be better?   Stay tuned

Prayers to her for a good recovery and you also. Project looking good in spite of the problems. It can wait...take care of your mother and yourself.

Was a "Clean break" on her arm.....they are taking good care of her.   She also has a bump on the head, from the fall.

Right now, my knees do NOT like this weather,,,,makes me want to sit around too much...

Nose is full of shellac smells....

So, how about a few pictures of today's follies?

Plywood panel, to use as the back of the bookcase.  Have it cut to length, waiting on shellac to dry before I attach this.    Have to turn the entire unit around

Need to close that view up...plane and chisel to level the plugs..5a71002e672f6_plugwork.jpg.b580950f190c7dc1ae366d163e112427.jpg

Then sand the heck out of things.    I got the knob installed...

Went and gave everything a coat of amber shellac..

Except  for the top of the case...can't get up there to see what I am doing.

First coat is on....may get a couple more coats.   Need to do the inside of the door.    And install the back

About ready to move this thing to it's new home.   a few more coats of finish, a latch for the bottom door...and call it done.

Will post a "gallery" when it is ready.   Stay tuned

Glad she's doing OK considering...certainly could have been worse...hopefully she heals quickly.

Know exactly what your talking about...even the sitting around makes them hurt...can't wait for it to get warmer and stay there.

Due to a "complaint" about the "open area" between the two units...I had to do a little extra today..5a73ba52bf71e_openeddrawer.jpg.75e203056435315753f38dc57ea48cbf.jpg

Had a bit of leftover Ash, so I made a simple drawer......slide it back in..

There is a stop, around back, set to where the drawer looks good closed up.     Picked up a couple latches today,

and cleaned out the spot for the cupboard to sit in..

Now, I just have to clean my bench..again

See how many toys you can ID in that mess....(broom doesn't count..)

Nice addition with the drawer although I though it looked good prior. If you haven't already You may want to add some nylon or plastic glides to drawer bottom sides; will help minimize scarring to the lower unit top. Just sayin'

The one that obviously is missing is @lew's mallet...haven't seen that on projects of late; in the vault?:P
