John Morris
Good Monday Morning! Good Monday Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks! Personal update: I think I quite woodworking, seems I cannot get back in the shop these days, this is the longest dry spell I have ever had (no woodworking since August). Between home repairs for our VA refinance (done) and medical emergencies, and visiting loved ones in the hospital, and just a whole host of things that I cannot publicly display, I cannot get back to it! Alas, I do have faith! I was able to actually walk out to my shop and organize a tad. It's amazing when a garage/shop is not being used, how much crap builds up on top of woodworking surfaces! Thanks for reading my display of self pity. New members Please welcome the following members to our community. No new members to report on this past week. News We want to thank those who have participated in this project, we have thus far reached 62% of our 1500.00 dollar goal! Popular Post Cal
Hey John, I hear you about the lack of shop time! My upstairs remodel is just about "complete" and I hope to post up a couple pics later in the week. Like you, I also made a new vanity - unlike yours, mine is a pretty simple model. I did make a mirror frame and did a little etching on it to personalize it though. Next stop, build a few pieces of bedroom furniture to go in those "new" rooms... Popular Post Ron Dudelston
I'm a bit envious John because I can't get out of the shop. We set up at a very large show Saturday and it was mayhem the entire day. When they opened the show at 9 A.M., there were about 300-400 people waiting to get in. By 9:03 I had my first sale. We sold quite a bit of product so I'm back in the shop. My time this week is devoted to building to quilt racks and a couple of "sports" racks. Not sure what they're going to look like just yet. Here's the starting bell. Cal, John Morris, p_toad and 7 others

Popular Post hatuffej
What a relief! I thought I was the only one afflicted with shop malaise. Before, I would grab a cup of coffee and head to the shop. It was a passion!! I took care of other chores as needed. Now, I have to make myself go out and work the wood. Gotta get the fire back! hat p_toad, lew, Cal and 3 others 5

Glad the show went well! Dave it was a blast to "people watch". The estrogen level was maxed out there. The few men that were with their mates had a glazed over look that revealed that they were in over their heads. I've done several shows and one thing I've learned that if a guy walks into the booth and looks hard at a particular item, you ask this question. "Are you a woodworker?" 9 times out of 10 the answer will be yes so then we talk about how I built the item. I had a guy yesterday buy an oven rack pull and he point blank told me that it was going to be a pattern and asked me how I built it. I just told him that he'd figure it out. lew, John Morris, p_toad and 4 others 3
Popular Post lew
Got the California Christmas presents finished, need to get a box to ship them off. Got all of the stock cut for the next present, some glue-ups done need to go to the Borg for some #10 biscuits. Still racking my feeble brain for gift ideas for the nurses at the doctors office. p_toad, John Morris, Grandpadave52 and 2 others
Popular Post Gerald
Hey John buck up , better times around the corner. Ron sound like that was a bang up sale. I sold 40 spin tops in 3 days plus a few other items and the club got 7 new contacts. We had a great weekend making contacts and making kids happy. But the room we were in had poor ventilation so lots of dust (from sanding on lathe) and Saturday evening I was coughing . Better now but in the future will take the dust mask. Grandpadave52
Accomplished nothing tangible or of any value...weather yesterday was dreary, rainy, cold, damp and any other appropriately miserable adjectives. Definitely Monday...daughter's van died on way to take kids to school this AM...Tow service has picked up and headed to the shop so we've been scrambling juggling vehicles and people to places. H.S. swim season kicks off tomorrow night with a 3-way meet and a dual meet Sat. at home. Remaining "free" time this week TBD ./. weather prognosis...basically a dull week measured up with all of you. I went to a swim meet one time and it was two hours of waiting, hustle in to the pool area, watch for two minutes, repeat. Awful experience and worse than soccer if that is possible. Actually Ron after 5 years of Middle school, summer programs and now 3rd year of HS, I've come to appreciate the sport and what both girls do and have accomplished. It will be a tad easier this year with both swimming varsity (Fr. & Jr.)...now on the other hand, H.S Volleyball...well, I'd soon watch glue or paint dry No offence to those that enjoy that sport...and yeah, I was thrilled when oldest grandson gave up soccer although at that age was entertaining to watch the kids and unbelievable watching the parents Cal, HARO50, p_toad and 1 other 2

Popular Post MT Stringer
I hear ya, John. I have been going through some rough times with my mom (88). My brother and sister are spending time with her as much as possible, as I am. Today, my wife went to sit with her. She is not doing well. Seems worse by the week. On another note, my wife and I have decided to cut back on building cabinets. Since she is my helper, she has threatened to quit! We are just not spring chickens any more. Hard decision because there are many people in need of cabinets in the Houston area and surrounding cities and towns. I hate to turn them down, but just gotta do it. Building a complete kitchen in a one car garage full of tools is pains taking to say the least. So I am working on some Christmas gifts for the kids and family members. Popular Post Gene Howe
Made the dump run. 680 lbs. of crap. Don't know how one person....well, two but, mostly me...can accumulate so much absolute junque. "Maybe I can use that, someday." Well, after 23 years of doing that and no usage, its gone. That shed is now usable. Now, on to rearranging the shop to accommodate a laser cutter. No easy task. No matter where I end up putting it, it'll be in the way someday.
