Popular Post kmealy
I saw Chad Stanton do a video on LFL and got my interest up. I live on a country road with not a lot of traffic but am considering making one for the church parking lot (on a more traveled country road as it's 1/2 mile from an interstate exit). I'd probably make it a miniature version of the church building (the front part). I have some stained glass that I could use for the Gothic windows. Comments, ideas? lew
I've seen these on various posts on social media. I like the idea. My Mom lives in a retirement village, they have a library that is operated on this idea.
Grandpadave52
Great ideas Keith...noticed one recently placed in the old bank parking lot in town a couple miles away. Population 227 +/- counting dogs, cats and a couple of goats but it is on a State Highway path which goes by the lot. HARO50
MT Stringer
Sounds like a good idea. I have never heard of such animal so I had to google it. Some folks are pretty ingenious with their design ideas. https://www.google.com/search?q=little+free+library&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjz2tHXkt_VAhUCZCYKHdXyDDgQsAQIPA&biw=1525&bih=753#imgrc=OgCc7uW93kCcEM: Edited August 17, 2017 by MT Stringer HARO50 and Grandpadave52
Popular Post Michael Thuman
The free library is a great idea but expect some pranks. The ones I did where I lived have become hot beds for soft covered books that the library does not have. They are the kind your wife reads. However more than once they were used as garbarge cans and one time they left the door open and that invited a swarm of wasps. I would use self closing hinges in the design if I were to do this again. Wood Magazine has a simple design in their early posts. It is best to put them within reaching distance of the sidewalk. Most of the time it is the pedestrians that find the books then put one back in. It should include a sign borrow and return or replace a book with another. My spouse being a school teacher put in her old texts and they were never taken. She put in one of her romance novels and the next day a new one was in. The next day she put in 6 more but the time she got home all 7 had been replaced with others. p_toad, HARO50, Cal and 3 others 4
Popular Post kmealy
After the sign got lost (somewhere?) for two weeks and the rain ended, got it installed today. Ready for business this weekend. HARO50, Stick486, p_toad and 3 others

Joeb41
Great job Keith and a good idea. There is one in my neighborhood and I have no clue as to who did it but it gets a lot of use.
kmealy
I guess I now have a reputation at the new church. The Girl Scout leader asked me if I'd help them build a "Blessing Box." http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/11/health/iyw-blessing-box-food-pantry-on-lawn-for-the-hungry-trnd/index.html HARO50, p_toad, LarryS and 1 other
LarryS
Great Job!!! I think the Blessing Box and a very good and needy cause. I think the blessing box will be a simple project for you to do after doing the church library book exchange. Good for you and Great Job!!!
