Concerned about your browsing privacy???

Recommended Posts

Great article about securing your Internet browsing. The only caveat  is that you need to use Opera. Opera’s parent company is European, it was recently purchased by a consortium of Chinese tech companies.

Of course this can be done in any browser, Opera just makes it a bit easier.

A new browser for the Internet. Built in ad blocker, Https Everywhere, script blockers, selection of password managers, do not track, enable/disable flash, shows load times in URL bar. Only a few extensions at this time. Pretty fast

Try it here- https://www.brave.com/

I like to try out various browsers to see if anything better is out there. The Tor Browser (Onion) is fine, especially if you're looking for something that you can't find thru "normal" channels. I occasionally use Vivaldi to test sites for display abnormalities. Some of the others list I haven't tried.

For now, my browser of choice is still Chrome. I like the wide  range of extensions/addons. My biggest complaint is that it does use a lot of memory when there are many tabs opened. I quit Firefox because of the memory usage and memory leaks. Hope chrome can find a way to reduce the memory usage.

For Chrome, I run Script Blocker, AdBlock,  HTTPS Everywhere. I wish there was a built in VPN function like Opera has but there are addons for Chrome that will do it. I'm just not that worried about what my ISP and browsers store about me. I'm pretty boring, actually.

Lew, been using Vivaldi a whole lot since you recommended it to me, one of the faster browsers out there I think. Very efficient.

Software engineers and computer programmers take glee in putting back doors in their programs so that they can get into them any time they want.

Kind of like a woodworker putting secret compartments in a desk, trunk, box  or other piece of furniture

And, they don't knock, either.

Who We Are

Operation Ward 57 Challenge Coin Display Project

We are a woodworking community with an emphasis on sharing and learning the skilled craft of woodworking and all of its related disciplines. Our community is open to everyone who wishes to join us. We support our American veterans and active duty, being a veteran is not a prerequisite to join. Join us now!

Objective

Air Force Command Center Plaque

Of course just like most online woodworking communities we are centralized in the arts, crafts, and trades that are woodworking. But, we have another focus in our Patriot Woodworker community, we are the only woodworking community that was founded on our care and concern for our disabled veterans.

Volunteer

Patriot Woodworker Volunteers

The Patriot Woodworkers are an all volunteer community, from the staff and hosts who run our online woodworking community to the members who frequent our forums, you'll find volunteers in all of us. We are not on a payroll, unless you consider the spiritual rewards gained from volunteering, as compensation.

Education

Logging

One of the many projects we are working on is a wiki for our online community. A wiki is a great way for woodworkers and enthusiasts to share their knowledge to others, and to impart their knowledge for others to learn from, and utilize as well for their own benefit. We hope you'll consider being a wiki contributor.
