Popular Post Gene Howe
This thing is finally done and packed for shipment. The walnut and brass elongated ovals on the doors are to cover my goof. Attached hinges on the wrong side. I kinda like them so, I made two more as escutcheons for my door pulls. A better shot of the pulls The drawer sides are grooved for wooden glides. The blue stuff is on swiveling wings. Those are earring do-hickies. The drawers are lined with the same stuff. Grandpadave52
Beautiful grain...great recovery and save on the "mistake." The walnut really dressed it up. Gene Howe and HARO50

Gene Howe
Thanks guys. I really appreciate your kind words. The holes in the wrong side of the doors were just one of a long list of self inflicted wounds on this project. I'm VERY glad it's DONE and out of the shop. Dadio
Terrific job,Gene. I like the fix on the doors and good thinking on the pulls. Boy there is a lot of work in that jewel chest. The ripply grain on the maple really stands out. That dark stop on the door panels sets off the maple too. Good job, I get to the same point on projects where it is done ,on to the next thing. You got the rifle cases coming up, anxious to see those. Herb Grandpadave52 and Gene Howe

Gene Howe
Appreciate it, Herb. I'm anxious to get started on those cases, too. I'll document this one, like Steve does. Well, since it'll be a prototype to begin with, maybe not all that extensive. This experimental piece will likely be walnut. Might as well use the good stuff. That way, if it turns out nice, I'll have a nice box .... for something long. And, if it's a bust, I won't have wasted my precious Mesquite. Fred W. Hargis Jr
Nice, but don't I remember those earring things are actually "whatcamacallits"? Love the look of those walnut ovals on the hinge cuts, nice recovery. Gene Howe and steven newman
