Popular Post John Moody
Well I have had a pretty good week and only spent half days in the shop. I went in then and rested and iced the knee down and all has been good. It has been nice to be actually back to doing a little work and not just spending the day sitting around with my leg propped up. I finished the Lego table and it was picked up yesterday and is headed to Pensacola, Florida. It has four of the Lego bases epoxied to the top and they wanted the legs so they could be removed so they are screwed into brackets on the bottom. Today I spent the day making stands for targets for our security team to go shoot and qualify this weekend. So I got all the parts cut to make seven but I only got five put together. I am planning on getting the other two put together in the morning and the heading over to the gun show before heading out to the range. So that is it for me. I'll also be attending my granddaughter's dance program tonight and my grandson's birthday this weekend. How about you all, what is on your agenda this weekend? You know we all love to see the projects you all are working on, so post those pictures and share your weekend plans. I'll be checking in and see how you all are doing this weekend. If you haven't yet, be sure to get out and get your Valentine something before the last minute. Have a great weekend and what ever you do, work safe! p_toad, Stick486, Harry Brink and 4 others
Popular Post Steve Krumanaker
I have a few bowls with the first coat of finish on them. 6 actually, significant to me because they are "nested" bowls. That means that three of the bowls came from one large blank and the other three came from a different large blank. In other words, instead of piling shavings on the floor, the center is cored and additional bowls are made from what would otherwise be waste material. Something I'm just learning to do and I have had many more failures than successes. I also bought most of the material to make a Jamieson style deep hollowing rig this week. My setup will be built around a 1-1 /4" diameter 4140 pre hard steel bar. When it's all done I should be able to hollow to about 16-20" deep. That will open up whole new world of wood turning for me. Kind of excited about that. Looked around my shop today, I've got bowls in paper bags drying on the floor, my table saw is stacked with bowl blanks or bowls with finish driying on them. Workbench? A delta midi lathe on one end and bowls with finish drying on the other. Bowls on my shaper and bowls on shelves. I might be hooked. Popular Post Chips N Dust
I have a bunch of chores to complete before I get laid up with my ankle surgery on Tuesday. But I do hope that I can slip out to the shop at some point and do something. Cal, John Moody, Grandpadave52 and 3 others

Guess one has to say you are becoming a "Professional Bowler" Nice work on the table @John Moody and the target stands. Good to see you're getting quality shop time in again...missed seeing your work... Some point either SA or SU, trip to visit Mom in nursing home...taken the last couple days off...my step-father is OK to drive from home there...trips to hospital a little to challenging for a 90 y/o; ~75 mile round trip for me and 2+ hours drive time... Gonna' try to hit a couple antique mall and flea markets maybe tomorrow...grand-kids all have the day off from any activities for first time in weeks...unlikely any time in the shop though... DAB
i use 1x2s for the verticals for target stands. harder to hit, cheaper to replace. HARO50, Cal and p_toad
Popular Post Gene Howe
Spent the morning cleaning, lubing, waxing and changing blades in my planer. Not because it really needed it. I just needed time to cool off and do some rational thinking. Yesterday, I made a monumental screw up. I attached a set of hinges on the wrong side of one of the two doors on a jewelry chest. This afternoon, I've been trying out various fixes. I may have it. No such thing as a mistake. Just design opportunities. Harry Brink, Cal, HARO50 and 9 others
Popular Post HandyDan
I will be working on the ornaments I have been gluing blanks for. Finally settled on a size for them. Been getting some cheap shorts of Maple and tried squeezing four out of one length but have since changed it to three. I have three dozen in the works right now. Popular Post Fred Wilson
Most of my work was done earlier in the week. Had to restock most of my military items. Keep running out of them Judy and I are spending the weekend in St. Augustine, FL in the awesome weather. Actually, we were invited to a craft show down here and figgered, what the heck. Tough weather, eh? Cal, John Moody, Grandpadave52 and 4 others

John's crew are a better shot than your crew Dab. They don't have to worry about stuff like that. At 7', your stands should be safe. HARO50, John Moody, Grandpadave52 and 4 others
DAB
i figure if i can hit the target at 10-15 yards, then 7 is a gimme. HARO50 and p_toad
Popular Post Gerald
Spent most of my week working on these lathe safety shields. Removable leg floor brackets with color code for assembly. Had the plastic almost 20 years from a closed drug store. Added a broshure rack , stand offs. and loops to lock stand against lathe. I shoot steel. Have a 10, 6 and 4. Only shot with the 4 once at 30 feet no hit yet with G2 HandyDan, John Moody, Chips N Dust and 2 others
