Popular Post steven newman
Had a pair of visitors this morning, in the Dungeon Shop....They came over from Columbus , OH. Quick tour of the Dresser Build, then on the road back to the Columbus area.....with me riding "Shotgun" Stopped at Andrew P. 's basement shop first. NICE shop, mainly power tools, but still a LOT of hand tools. He makes more boxes than I do. Load up, and head further into town. Around east 6th street.....stopped at a hole in the wall cabinet shop/ guitar shop. Owner has been selling a LOT of old arn, from around the area. Our other partner -in-crime in today's adventures, Chris H. seems to have bought an older Delta Cabinet saw. Took the three of us, and the seller to tear the saw enough to load into the back of Andrew's SUV. Motor cover was the metal box. Then we motored slowly to Chris's house, and unloaded the pieces. No, we did NOT back up real fast and slam n the brakes. Then, since we were there, we toured Chris's shop. Takes up the entire bay of the garage. Got to see all his tools and things, and a lot of his projects he has made. Finally, we all piled back into the SUV and headed back north. Stopped at a Mexican place for supper ( BURP!) and then back to Andrew's place. He dug out the Tormek, and sharpened a couple chisels for me. Finally, time to tell Andrew farewell, and Chris drove me back home. LONG day, but got to visit a few other nice shops.....both looked better than mine. Plans are to meet again in about a month. Weather was perfect, traffic wasn't that bad, shops looked GREAT, food was good! Rather enjoyed the day. As for that seller....he collects old arn, and resells them....some dummy forgot to bring his camera along.....maybe next time...? DuckSoup, Fred W. steven newman
Part of the "plan" is to try and involve a bunch of woodworkers in the area into a little Guild-like things. Where IF one needs a bit of help, others can stop by and lend a hand, or machine, or even shop-time. Food was GREAT! Thank you Chris! Fred W. Hargis Jr
Now wait a minute, isn't that something (the extension) the forum has to vote on???? HARO50, steven newman, Grandpadave52 and 1 other
p_toad
It does sound like a good day. Hopefully all enjoyed it and got back home safely. It's always nice to top off a road trip with "more eats".... my neighbor and i do that a lot of times with a stop at a local chinese buffet. If it's not local, we try to find one wherever we happen to land at the time... HARO50, steven newman and Miataguy
Popular Post steven newman
Have since "fired" that new blue, fuzzy Vivitar....went and bought an "up-grade" to a slightly better one. Will give it try out after a while Waiting to hear IF Chris managed to get that Delta Cabinet saw put back together.... When one walks into a place, and there is a floor to ceiling "bookcase" FULL of VINTAGE Porter Cable routers.....a shelf full of hand planes from a #8 on down.......a tablesaw that takes a 14" blade....and a mortising machine where you stepped on a pedal to plunge the hollow chisel into the work, with a spinning drill bit inside it.....and then bump into an aircraft carrier sized jointer, only to stare at a bandsaw tat stand almost as tall as the 8' ceilings.. you are, my friend, in tool heaven. Oh, BTW, I did get a wee bit of work done today.... Working on adding face frame rails.. One dovetail at a time Edited January 23, 2017 by steven newman Fred W. HARO50
Wait a minute.... Don't we have a rule that says something like: "If there's no picture, it didn't happen!"? John steven newman, Grandpadave52, kmealy and 1 other
