Dale Felice
I was U.S. Army. Corps of Engineers. Combat Engineer/ Sapper from 2009 till Aug of this year. I was attached to many units inside of the 4 th inf div of Ft Carson Colorado. Was with 2nd Brigade Co. 2/8 infantry " First at Normandy" a WW2 company. Then off to 4th Brigade with 2-77 Field Artillery. Then to 2-12 infantry " The Vietnam group". I went to Afghanistan with 2/12 in 2009 to replace one of 2 sappers killed, however I was redirected to Alpha Co. "Assassans" which was the old 44th Engineers group from Korea and the 2nd inf div. At that point the fight was on. We had become the group of Engineers that held 4 areas of operation in the Nangahar Province and made the surge for Laden. We also had to make missions for the missing soldier Bowe Bergdahl at the time as well. I was injured by one IED and 2 rocket propelled grenades and remained with the crew for the rest of the tour as I refused to quit. I had the honor to serve with them boys from the marines and the navy seal teams as well.I never regret a day for doing all of it even though it was absolutely a horror show. The people I met are extraordinary and I simply will not forget them. Hope you all have a good day soldiers and patriot woodworkers! Link to comment
