Larry Buskirk
The following images can help in determining the age of your Delta machines by the badge it wears, providing the part with the badge is original to the machine. Delta also exported their machines under the Tauco name, I've seen photos of the 1936 through 1941 style badges with the Tauco name in place of the Delta name. I'll post those photos if I can find them. 1936 1937 1938 1939-1941 1941-1952 1953-1966 1966-1973 Edited August 25, 2023 by Larry Buskirk Cal
Courtland
Thanks Larry! I have my old Delta Rockwell drill press I can date now, and my scroller that's up at Dad's house. Courtland
Here's my Drill Press Larry, looks like I have a Delta Rockwell 1953-1966. I was born in 66'. How cool would that be if it was actually made on my b day. How can I tell the exact year of manufacturing?
Larry Buskirk
John,If the machine has the Serial No. badge on it you can look here to see if the number is listed to get a mfg. date.http://wiki.vintagemachinery.org/DeltaSerialNumbers.ashx15" Drill Press? Sounds like a train, it needs a tune up, but it looks cool. Everything seems straight, but it's just generally rough sounding, bearings? Larry Buskirk
John,How's the belt?It may be making the press sound rough if it's developed some hardening.
Courtland
Larry the belt is fine, I replaced it two years ago with the standard automotive belt. Although upon closer examination the motor mounting place seems to rattle, there is the spring loaded gizmo that applies pressure to the motor mount plate that does not seem to hold the plate tight. Larry Buskirk
Check parts 26,27,28 in this manual. http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/1141/6923.pdfThe spring is probably weak.

So far that is the only machine I've discovered that differs from the above time line. Edited April 7, 2020 by Larry Buskirk Gunny
