My neighbor brave me this hand saw today. It's kinda rough. All I can make out on it is it aye Prfofessional Quality and Made In The U. S. A. Does anyone know what brand it is and if it's worth cleaning up?

I've been doing a little research on the handle on th internet. I think my saw might be aDisston D23 Lightweight 26" Rip Saw. Because I found this picture of a handle that looks kinda like mine and I looked up the handles and that's the handle that goes on that saw.

There is a black marker that says D-23 Mark unless you wrote that in. It is located to the left of the handle at the upper third of the saw. So someone thinks it's a D-23.

Your medallion states "Made in the USA" only, the quick research I had not seen any Disston medallion with "Made in the USA" only.

Here is a link to the medallions.

That is a good reference John. I have it bookmarked on my phone and iPad so when I am out I can check them. I have a Disston with the third medallion down 1850's - 1865 I picked up at a flea market.
