Cliff
Oh My. That's really nice. Talk a little about the moulding please.
John Moody
Thanks Cliff, I should have taken more pictures of the making of the moulding but sometimes I forget to take pictures till the end. I purchased a Bit from Eagle Bits to route the curved part of the moulding. I cut my moulding pieces bigger than what you would have used with this bit. So it left a sharp edge where the top of the bit cut. I then reset my fence on the router and changed bits to a round nose bit. And ran it along the area where the sharp edge was to give it a smother curve and transition. To finish off the treatment I used a 1/2" Round Over bit on the edge to give it a little more curve. Then just some sanding to give it a smooth transition for each of the curves. The moulding sits on part of the feet and with the curve on the edge it adds another shadow line between the moulding and the feet yet gave me a place to connect the moulding and not make a hard attachment to the side panel. I wish I had taken better pictures of the moulding. Great questions and thanks for asking.
Claude Bradford
That's one elegant looking blanket chest. Classy design especially the trims, mouldings and the legs. The finish is really beautiful. That will be an hierloom piece for sure. Excellent job John!
