Gene Howe
That screen is bigger than my phone's screen. Bigger also, than my Kindle. But then, the set wouldn't be too easy to carry around. Advances in miniaturization of electronic components have indeed been phenomenal. Link to comment
Artie
We didn’t have a color television set in the family, until I bought my Dad one, for Father’s Day, when I was 19. An RCA 19 inch. He was in his glory, watching the Red Sox, in color Link to comment

Grandpadave52
Thanks Dan...brings back many memories... My grandmother had one just like that. She watched "her programs" (As the World Turns/ Days of Our Lives) as she called them when grandpa was at work. Grandpa almost never watched anything on TV; Kept listening to his radio. He thought TV's would lead to our ruination; I guess in some aspects he turned out to be right. Link to comment

John He wouldn't watch the "bubble man" either...singing, dancing and 'wild music' on that show. He didn't believe in dancing, the only singing was done at church and the only music there was the pitch pipe to start the song. After he had his first stroke he mellowed some though and occasionally would watch with grandma; Grandma never missed LW once she found him on TV. Shoot, I sometimes watch the LW reruns Saturday evenings on PBS...beats most things on TV. Link to comment

HandyDan
My best memory was watching Bugs Bunny and Road Runner Hour with my dad and brothers and sisters on Saturday morning. Dad got a big kick out of the cartoons. Link to comment
Gene Howe
Dad wouldn't buy a TV until the color ones were affordable. Then he watched old B&W Gunsmoke reruns. We only got 3 channels. Had to rotate the antenna for each one. For a while, only one broadcasted in color. Link to comment
HandyDan
Dad worked for Graybar Electric and got his TVs there. I think I was 15 when he brought home the first color TV. I remember helping him carry it in the house ans was amazed by the color and clarity of it. Not all the programs were broadcast in color at the time. Link to comment
