Ron Altier
I like the carbon steel tools, but they didn't have a dust/chip deflector. Most of it hit me and my mask/face shield. My solution was to use goop and attach a super magnet on the tool. Then I got a squeeze type paper clip, (larger example shown) removed the outer finger clamps and goop a small piece of steel to it. Then goop in a piece of plexiglass. It is on an angle and perfect for deflecting. If there is a drawback it is that the magnet attracts other things too, but not much of a problem. I have magnets on all my carbon steel turning tools. The shield quickly goes from tool to tool. Grandpadave52, p_toad and Dadio
PostalTom
Just FYI, EWT has a similar item, although I don't know if it will fit round shafts like you have.
Ron Altier
The round shafts were a big problem. I also just like solving a problem, even if it is a Rube Goldberg Dadio

lew
Cool Idea! Just as a side note to Tom's post, The EWT tools are not magnetic.
Ron Altier
These are nonmagnetic also, I gooped the magnet to the tool
