I just learned there is a ''''snipping tool in this computer'''''  no aint for wood , for chopping and moving things around in computer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

great idea.   As I read this I wondered if putting some trash wood (like pine or trimmings from the scrap bin) even longer on the edges would work as well.   Then just rip it off after the planing/sanding was done.

It will work just fine but I usually have longer boards of the type I'm using for the cutting board and just grab a couple of those.  I find it works better to place them near the middle of the board, as well. Plus, I never have Pine in the shop so that's not an option for me.
