Dan, I watched the entire videos, my gosh the hours and life he and his son put into that project, incredible, absolutely incredible. I cannot even ever ever imagine creating any project that last that long, and requires that much patience, and repetitive work, it's not even in my universe of understanding how or what it would take to do something like that, and then the second video, my goodness, what a heart breaker. What I failed to understand, and he did not tie the two events together, the man that ran into the fire to end his own life, was that the same fellow that destroyed his project? He never said it was but they seemed related.

Well here is my take on this, of course it's a tragedy that the artwork was lost, after all the time and will power and money expended on that project, but, it does not surprise me at all. People ask why? The Burning Man event, unless you have been to one Dan, you may know more about it than I, but I have spoken to folks who have attended, and the event is a Wood Stock style event with drugs and alcohol as the primary driver for the excitement. There is rampant drug sales at the event, you can find anything under the moon at the Burning Man, from Meth, Cocaine, Ecstasy, Hallucinogenics, you name it, it's there. And then you have thousands of folks high on drugs, and acting like a rolling tribal drug induced mass of people, and by the third day of the week long event folks are going out of their mind.

He also stated that art vandalism is on the rise at the Burning Man, well that coincides with our rising national epidemic of opiates and hallucinogenics, that does not surprise me either.

Here is a review of a Burning Man event, Burning Man's Debauchery

Quote

At Burning Man, the hallucinogenic drugs are on tap as people strip down to virtually nothing and dance late into the night on top of weird ‘mutant’ vehicles done up to look like everything from alligators or space ships.

So, if anyone is tempted to go to Burning Man, and take their precious artwork with them, just do it with the understanding that you may have to leave it in the fire and comeback without it I guess. The fact that the artist turner seems perplexed as to "Why", is beyond me, he has been to those events before it appears, and he asks why?

Thanks Dan, great heads up, I enjoyed the video of the build, it is so sad it's all gone in one night, just really sad.
