What's the difference?

Each of the different types of shellac reflect further refinement and bleaching.   I've been told nearly all of this happens in Germany and is distributed from there.

As far as I know, the main difference is coloration, getting lighter from garnet, orange, (lemon), blonde, super blonde.

If you are using a waxed shellac, many finishes will not adhere to it.   If you are using shellac alone, it's not a problem.

Steve Mickley loves shellac.  Jeff Jewitt seems to like shellac.   I've read a couple of articles by Bob Flexner recently who sort of poo-poos it as a sealer.  So to each his own?
