kmealy
Interesting. I have bone that I use to burnish the beveled cut edges of picture frame mats
lew
Gonna try this! Just happen to have acquired a couple of antlers that might do the trick! Gene Howe

Cal
Completely new to me also. The article does not mention the techniques/time involved. Will have to do additional research on it. Cal
HandyDan
That is a lot of work on a saw handle let alone a whole door. May try it out on a turning like Lew mentioned.
Gene Howe
Did a tiny bit of research. Seems it's an ancient technique. Used on bows. Boning compresses the wood fibers. Apparently, a similar effect can be achieved with a steel rod. Best to rub with the grain, longitudinally. As Keith noted, often used on paper. Also on leather, to seal the edge. Might get some interesting, subtle effects by selectively boning, say a beveled edge, prior to using a finishing product. Cal
